Hi ladies. I have a question. My daughter Hannah has started crawling up on things. Well pulling herself up on things I should say. Anyway I can't seem to get her away from the T.V. When we were growing up they said that it could hurt your eyes. I've talked to a few of my other friends that say its an old wives tale. But I don't want my baby to have to wear glasses. I'm ALWAYS pulling her away from it and sitting her further away but in a matter of seconds she's right back up there. She'll only sit in her high chair for a few minutes. Any advice would help. Thanks

What can I do next?

Turn the TV off! Studies show that TV is not good for kids. Just do a search on the TV on the internet. Oprah had a whole show on it. There is also the TV turn of network that has good information and there is a book on it. The TV is especially bad before bad as it has been proven to stimulate brain waves making it more difficult to go to sleep.

Hello S..

I can completely relate! My daughter turned 1yr on 4/13 and she wants 2 things: stand in front of the tv changing stations and our water-cooler in the kitchen! I noticed that the more I was all over her making her get away from those 2 things the more she wanted to be there. So, I just put up a baracade in front of the water and kept the tv off during the day-playing music and things like that. She still stands in front of the tv in the evening-but doesn't seem as bad because I'm not constantly making her go somewhere else! Don't worry-I'm sure our babies will be fine! Have you ever seen the chain email about babies growing up in the 50's, 60's and 70's? It's cute-it talks about their cribs had lead paint, they didn't have car-seats and so on and grew up just fine!
Take care!

Maybe you should get her her own special chair and make it sound very exciting.Pick out a character chair something she is currently in to and place in as far from the t.v. as you would like her to be. And tell her the chair has to say there though. Maybe having her own chair to sit in will help her stay in her chair away from the t.v. I know you tried the high chair and she doesn't like it but it is also a chair mean't for babys and for eating at, depending on her age she maybe knows that and that is why she doesn't like being in it and it keeps her confined, so maybe a big girl chair for watching t.v. will be different.
Hope it helps ...

I slid our coffee table over in front of the tv. That helped some. She was still close but not as close.

Does she not like being confined, or does she get bored being in her high chair? A friend of mine has this seat, it looks like a walker, only it doesn't have wheels, so it's stationary. But, it has like activity table all around, the seat turns in a complete circle. She loves it because it keeps her daughter from crawling all over the house when she's trying to cook dinner or get some work done. Walmart has one it's by Evenflo, called an Exersaucer Deluxe for $40. There are others also, you can check them out on Walmart.com, under baby toys.
