Hello all,
I have been using a WONDERFUL baby bath for the last seven months. It is a product made by 4 moms and it has a thermometer built in, AMAZING! It fits in the sink and all...
Sadly, my daughter is getting too big for the bath and too mobile for the sink/kitchen area. I am looking for a good bath for her that she can fit in now and, hopefully, grow with that fits in the bathtub. I have heard of a bunch of different ones, but wanted to ask the "experts" :-)
Thanks so much and I hope everyone is having a wonderful evening.

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Thanks everyone for their wonderful responses. I think we may get the one step ahead baby secure transitions baby tub and also try just putting her in the tub. Always good to have a backup.
Thanks again everyone, it was much appreciated!

I used one of the blow-up tubs for my son and it worked great. And - as he was playing, I didn't have to worry about him hitting his head on the big tub or the spicket.

I use the Primo bath tub for my 1-year old- at first, it seemed so big but once he could sit up well, it was fine. It's big enough for a toddler w/ all his toys.

Hi there - I also have a 7 mo old and at this age I have forgone the baby tub - I love to get in with her and hold her in the tub to wash her, or I just put a towel on the bottom of the tub and let her sit on it so she doesn't slip and fill the tub with a few inches of water. She sits up very well and loves it! If this doesn't appeal to you I have seen a tub at the Right Start that baby sits in that is deep and narrow - might work for you

Hi J., Not sure how old your baby is and if she can sit up for herself. It is a long time for me but my grandchildren had something that had suction cups for the bottom of the tub. It was colorful and they liked to play in the water with this circle holding them up. Not much help because I do not know the name. Grandma Mary

We've been using an 'inflatable tub'...not certain of the brand, but it was carried at Babies 'r us....it basically looks like a raft. The advantages are that it's soft and that it saves water since you don't have to fill the whole tub. I hang it on a suction cup in the shower when we're finished using it (to dry it out).

I love the bath from one step ahead. We got secure transitions tub around 5 months and it fits my baby well. One of them popped, I called them, and they promptly replaced it at no charge.

Hope this helps!

I had the same tub you had and loved it just as much!

Note: you may have to copy and past the whole links below to make it work.

I have now transitioned to The First Year's Infant To Toddler Tub with Sling: http://www.amazon.com/First-Years-Infant-Toddler-Sling/dp...

You can use the sling to transition - and then when the baby gets too big you can just take it out.

I also purchased the spout thermometer that is made by the same brand of your old sink tub that I purchased directly from Pottery Barn Kids (it works the exact same way as the old one): http://www.amazon.com/Pottery-Faucet-Temperature-Gauge-4M...

Hi J.
Can't help with this one, we simply used the tub when they outgrew the baby tubs back when I had my kids, but I will be watching for answers because it is a great idea for a gift for our new grandson who was born yesterday.
God bless you and your lovely family
K. married 38 years with kids 37, 32, and twins 18. I too love being mom and have been that SAHM for 37 years. Headed for the empty nest as twin girls head to college, but we have a new grandson to fill it up as our 32 yo son blessed us with our first grandson yesterday

I love the inflatable tub we have. It's from Munchkins and is shaped like a duck. It even quacks when you press the beak. It's smaller than a full size tub (I like that!), and much more portable if you take trips.

Over the course of a few weeks we did the following when moving our daughter from the infant tub to sink to big tub:

1. We used a plastic tub in the sink (the kind you use for washing dishes, etc.) that she could sit up in. It wasn't easy to wash her "undercarriage" as my mechanic husband calls it, but she could brace her self and hold onto the sides. It was easier on our backs too, not having to bend over the rub in the bathroom.

2. When she got too big for that, we used a bath ring that suction cupped to the bottom of the tub to help her get used to the big tub. Be very careful with the rings, you really can't leave the child alone at all--which you shouldn't anyway when in the tub.

3. Once she was ready for the big tub without the ring (sits/crawls arounds without support), I lined the tub (sides, bottom, etc) with those suction cupped mats and other not slip suction cup thingys. Now that she is 24 mos, we just have one mat on the bottom of the tub.

We used the spout cover for awhile too, but we found we didn't need it.

Kitchen sink should work for quite a while. Just clear
off counters so she cannot reach anything. I think my
kids were still in there at a year, when did not have
time for the real tub.

I am having the same issue. What my friends are recommending is from one step ahead. http://www.onestepahead.com/catalog/product.jsp?productId...
That is what I am planning on getting for my 8 1/2month old. Let me know what you decide.

Hi J.,

If your daughter can sit-up and support herself, you don't need another bathtub. You should have a big one already! =) My son LOVED being a "big boy" once he outgrew his baby tub and he was perfectly happy taking a bath in the regular bathtub. He was about seven months old when we moved him into the big tub. We bought a bunch of new toys for him to play with and he was in heaven. We were very cautious with him in the beginning, but as his confidence grew, ours did too. We did buy a large bath mat for him to sit on so there was no fear of his little bum slipping on the wet tub and having him fall into the water.

Just a thought. I know it's about your comfort level, too, and some moms prefer having their little ones more confined. Me, I loved seeing my son in the big tub. He was so happy, and I loved the fact that he felt like a big kid!

Good luck!

I've just been using our bath for Brendan since he outgrew the kitchen sink! I get a $5 bath sponge from Target and put it in the tub, and set him on that so he doesn't slide around. It's just so much easier than dealing with baby baths, my two cents, if you want to try that?!

J.,

I always used this one. It is very basic, but sturdy and hangs on the wall to dry. It is inflatable, so easy to use for travel. We also bring it to the beach and fill it up with water for a little pool. Hope this URL works .... http://www.onestepahead.com/catalog/product.jsp?productId...

Just put the baby in the adult bath.. Just buy the seat that they sit in w/ there legs out.. That usually comes w/ some baby baths. Also, i use the boppy to kneel on while i wash my daughter. I bought alphabet letters so she can play w/ in the bath. That is what I have for my 10 month old.. She was too big for the baby bath at 7 months..Then get a cover for the faucet. Go to onestepahead.com or perfectlysafe.com.. or babies r us..
Good Luck!! :)

You could try a blow up bathtub that fits in your regular tub, or a bath seat. I know they say that bath seats are not safe, but that's only if you don't supervise your child!

Hello,
Wal-Mart, K-Mart and Babies r Us carried a small blow up tub that I believe looks like a duck and it fits inside your bath tub but before it is inflatable it gives your little one padding around them if they were to slip and bump their little head. I think it is made by safety 1st. they are not expensive either, I think 15 or 20.

You say your daughter is atleast 7 months. If she is sitting well, I would just put her in a regular bathtub. Get a mat for the bottom of the tub and a bumper (one step ahead has a good one- you will need this more as she starts to stand and for your own peace of mind). My son was sitting in a regular bath at 6 months (I transitioned him out of his baby tub b/c he was trying to crawl out of it) and he has loved the bath and all water activities ever since. Plus it's one less thing to but!! Hope this helps.

Hi J.-
The tub I found to be great is actually a seat that attaches to the side of the tub. It keeps your little one stationary while you give them a bath. I found it in BabiesRUs. They also sell a storage bench for Mom/Dad to sit on while baby is in the tub. The bench can hold all the bathing essentials as well as bath toys. The bench also comes in handy when your child gets older so they can reach the sink on their own.
Hope this helps-

Hi J. D. I had used with both my daugher and son a blow up tub that fit's right in your bath tub. My son is 16 months old and only just handed it over now to a girlfriend with a 6 month old. I purchesed it at babies r us. I loved it being it was a soft outline and that my active little one's could not get hurt if they wanted to move around and play being it was so soft. Good luck.

When my son out grew the sink tub he was able to sit by himself. So we went to Babies R Us and bought a seat made by safety first (http://www.toysrus.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2969577) that hooks to the side of the regular tub.
He loved it...he could play and splash. The seat swiveled so we could reach to clean all sides of him easily. We used the seat until he out grew it and now sits in the tub by himself (he is almost 23 mos).
Hope this helps,
J.

Hi,
I like Katie Z's response - my 10 month old outgrew her tub and a fried suggested several things.

Get a hand held shower, sit the baby down and spray her off...

Put a little bath water in the tub and let her splash, play around in it.

Take a shower yourself and put the baby down and wash him/her at the same time...

Best of all - one less item in the tub for you to mess around with, especially because I have a 3 year old and the baby tub is always in the way...

Hi J.,

I have a 6 month old son and my husband works nights, so I have to do the bath routine by myself at nights. We have the 'safer bather' by Leachco:
http://www.amazon.com/Leachco-Safer-Bather-Infant-Bath/dp...
I love it. It is a sponge that you put in the bath tub and the baby lies on top of it. It 'holds' the baby so that your hands are relatively free to wash the baby. It works great for us. Good luck.
