Baby Announcements/moving

OK Mamas. We found out this week that we are closing on our new house within a month and I still have 6 weeks til my baby girl is born. I was thinking when I send out baby announcements I might also include new home in the announcement. Is this taking away from the baby or should I go for it? And how should I word it? I was wanting to make it about my two older kids--a boy 11 and a girl 3--announcing their new baby sister and bringing her to the new home. What do you ladies think??? And by the way--I know it is totally CRAZY to move this close to time, but we are getting movers and I have a ton of help with moving and with baby.

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Thanks all you mamas that responded!! You all had GREAT ideas---even some saying I should not include both--which is what I keep going back to. I really appreciate your input and as of right now, I will be lucky to even get just baby announcements out in a timely manner! Thanks again girls!! :)

Evening C.,
I would keep it baby. I would send out another announcement for the house. Keep it special for this new one coming. And the moving thing, I've been there. I just moved into my home about three weeks to the birth of my last daughter. Things were scattered everywhere, and I had a home birth, it was interesting. Good luck

I dont think you should combine the moving info with the birth announcement. You want to be able to put it in her baby book so she can have forever. I'd send out the announcement in bewtween 2-6 wks after birth. I can make the announcement for you. I made both my children's. You can see it here:
http://tinypic.com/fullsize.php?pic=14xick2&s=3&c...

If you like it, let me know and I can make a really cute one for you including pics of your other children. It will cost you less than a website would charge you. :)

C.,
I have had a simmilar situation with all 4 of mi children because they have all been born near Christmas when we would normally send out a Christmas letter. What I have done (rather than pay postage for 125 letters twice!) is put the formal birth announcement in the envelope then I will enclude our Christmas letter in addition separately in the same envelope. You could do the same by having your formal announcement worded however you want to include your older kids, then make a simple New Home/address change card or paper to include behind the birth announcement. You could put your address info 4 times on one sheet of cardstock then cut it into 4ths. I think that would still be tastefully done and nice, while not taking away from the special-ness of the baby for her memory book etc...

I think combining would be great. I always trying to think of something to do out of the norm and save money. Check out www.shutterfly.com they have great photo cards you can use or use www.vistaprint.com. They have an option to print on both sides of your card stock. I made a invite for my one my friends which was for a baby shower but on the back was a poem from her sisters who were throwing the shower. When they ask me to create it they wanted a regular invite but to include something special about their bond. It turned out really nice..

This sounds like a great idea! It might be cute to have a picture of the three of them either in the front/backyard or in the family room. Maybe (siblings names)brought (baby girl) born(date) at(time)home to our new house at (address). Just a little thought. Good luck. I have moved 8 1/2 months pregnant. It actually turned out really nice for me. I couldn't lift anything so I just pointed to where everything went. We live close to my parents so my mom was there to help unpack and decorate.

I don't see anything wrong with it. Sounds like a good idea to me. When my second was born 10 days before Christmas, I included the birth announcement in the Christmas card.

Congrats on the new house and new baby. I actually do custom invitations and announcements and I think it would be very unique to put them both together. Something like,"in addition ot our new address, we have a new addition!" Or even a poem that included the fact that you moved and that your little girl was born. I do custom poems as well. Let me know if you are interested and I can do some mock ups for you. Congrats again.

Just a thought...when we moved right before Christmas two years ago, I ordered address labels from www.familylabels.com that said "A NEW HOME FOR THE HOLIDAYS" and then showed our names and new address. I used them for the Christmas cards and killed two birds with one stone (and one stamp!). You can also put a face on the labels (you have to see their labels for this to make sense), so we put a baby boy in a Santa hat for our son.

You could do "A NEW HOME FOR OUR NEW BABY" or something like that, use those labels on the envelopes, and then keep the birth announcements just about the baby and your family.

Again, just a thought...Congrats, good luck, and God bless!

Oh, and a lot of websites have pre-ordering for birth announcements - they'll send you the envelopes now so you can get them addressed, everything is ready for you to just send them the details when the baby is born...

I guess I am one the other side of the spectrum on this issue! I think you can get the information out without actually including it on your precious little ones birth announcement! I relish my two sons birth announcements and they are the very first page of both of my sons scrapbooks. I just think that their birth announcement should be all about them - I love to add the pics with all 3 siblings - BellyBeanDesigns.com has some WONDERFUL designs so you can personalize and add your own pics. I would add to the birth announcement envelope a separate piece of paper with the announcement that you have moved. I guess I just feel like the 3rd child already shares EVERYTHING else - let the birth announcement be all about them!

Congrats to both! You could put something in the announcement about celebrating your "Two New Additions"

Boy________ & Girl________ are excited to announce the two new "additions" to our family! Our first addition is our new home, located at _____________ to which we have been blessed to bring our new baby sister, ____, home to. She was born on _____, weighed ____ and was _" long.

Just something to work with that you can change up if you like!
