Baby and Runny Nose
My 6mos old latley has a runny nose I think that she has some algerys but when I ask her doctor about it she said that she is to young for them. I don't think she has a cold because she is not showing any signs of one. Just a runny nose. And she is also teething. If anyone can help please let me know.

Hi! My 17 month old has been the same way since hes been a few months old. It happens when I get allergy problems. His doc said hes too young too but I know he has allergies. They are wrong on occasion especially about my son.

All of my children have had what seemed to be a chronic runny nose, and it just came along with teething. I do believe that my 3 year old does have allergies b/c since he was born, at the same times of the year that I have trouble, so does he... the doctor originally told me the same thing, but it hasn't gone away, so I would say if it lasts even after teething, keep an eye on it. :)

I am going through the same thing right now, I have taken him to the Dr. She said that the runny nose comes right along with the teething. Nothing you can do except try and make her comfortable, and once in a while if it gets too bad and he really cannot breathe even when I use the Aspirator, I give him a little tylenol cold for infants, It really does dry him out, so he can get some good rest.

I don't think your child is too young for allergies at all. They can do an allergy panel with blood, they don't have to do a scratch test on their back. I think the blood work is more accurate. It could also be from teething. My son has allergies and he was a snotty, drooling, blow-out diarrhea mess while teething too. He was covered with A&D ointment for the first year of his life haha.. poor kid. He was also given some antihisthamines when he was around 8 months old for chronic hives. If you don't like your doctor's answer, question it. Momma knows best! ;)

I just wanted to let you know that my son is two now and has been on claritain since he was 6 months old-- I'm not sure if your ped. is wrong or mine is but my son has had alergies forever-- It could be the teething but in my case two weeks after he started the claritain he was fine and every time I forget one day ( busy mom of three:P) His nose starts running everywhere-- he has alergies to everything :( So anyways I guess after blabbing on my point is it could be teething but you may not be wrong about the allergies --- hope I helped :)

Runny noses come along with teething quite often,my oldest was a drooling-runny mess for months poor kid. Stock up on really good kleenex, or use baby wipes to keep her wiped up. This time of year the extra moisture on her face can realy cause irritation.

My baby was having the same problem and when I took her in for her 6-month appt., our pediatrician said that babies do get congested when they are teething. My advice is to make sure you have a good nasal aspirator (or "snot-sucker," as I like to call it) handy, and she should be fine in a week or so. Hope this helps!

She may have a runny nose because she is teething. Some babies do that. Sometimes they even get diarriah.
