My daughter is turning 9 in a few weeks and I've been trying to find something to do somewhere besides home for her birthday party, she dramatically said she'd like to have it somewhere else and that's okay with us. Monkey Joes is $300 to start, the rentable inflatable jumping starts at $250 which March is chilly,I'd like to do Dierberghs cooking school, it's $200 you can invite up to 15 kids. Any ideas would be great.
thanks, G.

The trend with my daughter and her friends is going towards a very small group going shopping. They get to choose just 2 or 3 friends, and the parents of the b-day girl give them each $20-$30 to spend; depending on how many friends and what works for your budget. They love to hit their favorite stores in the mall and buy Webkinz or earrings etc. They sometimes bring some of their own money too. When we're done shopping, they get dinner at McDonald's, or somewhere of your choice. If you want, they could even sleep over; all that costs you is snacks and donuts. Easily under $200. This obviously won't work if your daughter can't narrow down her list, but otherwise, it's been very popular. Good luck!

Have you checked into the Magic House? We did our son's 5th birthday party there and it was very reasonable. You can check it out online and they have prices, etc...

Hello G.,
We have had and been to a bowling party. It includes one game of bowling, shoe rental and a hot dog and soda. The birthday child also gets a real bowling pin that can be signed by all attendees. This is good if she wants to invite the whole class. It is less than $10 per child and Show me lanes in south county also includes a future free game of bowling. You can bring your own cake and have it in the lounge while the children eat the hot dogs. You do need to pay a partial deposit. (You should have seen my husband's eyes when I asked him to pay for the balance on the day of the party...$55.00!) Good luck and have fun! P.

How about take a few friends to the movies. Saturdays before noon the prices are even cheaper than rush hour. Buy the refillable popcorn bag and then take the girls out for pizza or burgers. Go anywhere, Magic House, Science Center,Crown Candy Factory or the Zoo with some friends. Our older daughter has gone to parties at the mall and thought that was fun. I always do themed parties at home. Our last one was Hannah Montana complete with tickets and backstage passes. I have done under the sea, Halloween among others. Hope this helps

My daughter also has a birthday in March and for the last 2 years we had done an indoor swimming party at either the Arnold rec center or Fenton. It is nice because the kids have not swam all winter so they are pretty excited about it. I think it starts at about $150.00. You can also purchase pizza if you want. We have always ordered the pizza, but quite honestly they are so anxious to go swimming that they hardly eat it so if you just served cupcakes you would be fine. It is also a nice idea because you can invite both boys and girls. Good luck.

Have you ever thought about a pottery party? Baked Goods Pottery on Tesson Ferry Road (across from Concord Lanes) does an excellent job. I had my daughters birthday there in August with 10 girls and it cost me 85 dollars. I had to bring a cake and drinks as well. The girls loved it and we have been back several times just to paint. There are several ways to do the party. We chose for each girl to make a plate but their choices are endless. I hope this helps. Good Luck!!
