Average Cost for Preschool??

Hello to all the preschool mommies. We are looking for a preschool for our 4 year old. Our good friends have their children at North Star Learning Center in Richardson. I think the program looks good, but the cost is 305.00 a month. Is this the going rate out there. Let me know your thoughts love the school just want to know if there are others I should check out before commiting to this one.

Thanks!!!

What can I do next?

I can't answer the question about the average cost, but I just wanted to throw my two cents in about North Star... My son went there last year and he and I both loved it. He learned a lot and will be going back in the fall. In my opinion, the rate we paid was well worth the care he received, the attention from the staff we got, and the amount he learned. HTH!

We live in Murphy and my children have gone to The Heights www.cdctheheights.org (Renner @ Central) and love it! It depends on how many days you go and for how many hours a day, but the usual cost should be around $25-$35 a day. There are so many great schools in our area! Keep looking if you're not comfortable.

I had my youngest daughter at FBC, Frisco on Tues/Thurs and it was $185/mo. That same daughter is going into LCA next year and we pay $470/mo for 10 months and it's 3 days a week. It depends what you're looking for...if a Mothers Day Out is okay then they are less expensive...if you want a real formalized preschool then it's going to cost more.

Wow...I would be a little concerned about the level of care and quality of what you little one will get out the program at that cost. We looked at several before putting our son at a small private preschool in Lake Highlands. All were between $650-$800/month for preschool. Ours is $735. So that would worry me a bit. But if that is what is in line with the cost you can or want to pay and it is truly a good program, that would be a great deal. Good luck!! :)

There are a lot of variations in cost - it really comes down to academics, activities and structure. The best thing to do is look around, tour the place and compare what is being offered verse cost. That way you can make an informed decision.

I guess different area has different going rate - Frisco and Plano areas are definitely the most expensive ones. My daughter attends TLC (in Plano) since she was a baby, and for her 4 year old class, I was paying $185.00/week. But we do go full time, and tuition includes breakfast, lunch and 2 snacks. I am pretty satisfied with the quality of her school as she is trying spelling 3 or 4 letter words, and she does 2 digit math before she starts kindergarten in the fall.

I do notice there are schools in other area offers comparable education at much lower price, but there will be no way for us to get her there in time in the mornings, so I didn't really check into those programs.

Good Luck,
S.

Two years ago my daughter was at Windhaven Academy in Plano and we paid $190/wk for 5 days. Lunch and 2 snack were included.

Average cost in Rockwall is $120 a week or $480 a month. So this is cheaper. The good thing is that your child is 4 and can tell you if they like it or not.
