Avent or Born Free Bottles???

I am due to have my 2nd baby in January and I can't decide which bottles to use. I will be breastfeeding as long as possible but will still need bottles. I used Avent with my 1st daughter and liked them (that was before the info on BPA came out). I was going to switch to Born free but Avent now makes BPA free. I am also concerned with which bottle will reduce gas the most. I just can't seem to make a decision - any suggestions???

What can I do next?

I'd get one of each and let baby decide. My daughter definitely had thoughts on the matter. Good luck.

I haven't used Avent, but have used Born Free. Didn't have any issues with gas, but they are a serious PAIN to clean. The insert thing in the middle is practically impossible to clean. You can buy their nipple brush cleaner thing and that sort of gets in there, but it breaks in record time and then you need a new cleaner. If the Avent ones are easy to clean, I'd go with them.

Good luck.

As an oral facial myologist and Breathing Educator for Buteyko Breathing, I suggest you do not use a bottle at all or sippy cups. The reason is because of the damage sucking does to the tongue and surrounding muscles. It can cause high palate in the roof of the mouth and crooked teeth. Suckling is good for using the right muscles for the right job. It helps to keep the tongue in proper position so the arches grow correctly. Also can prevent allergy and asthma symptoms later then snoring and medications for other illnesses as an adult. Check out Weston A. Price Foundation or Le Leche League for more info on breast feeding. If you have to use a bottle for a short time, use glass.

WE love the glass born free bottles and really did not like the Avent! Good luck with your little one :)

I love BornFree. They've been BPA-fre all along so I just trust them more. The bottles also have an air vent that changed everything (my daughter's ear infections went away and she slept like a champ because she didn't have gas). Smaller company so if you have questions it's easy to get in touch with someone on the same day.

I used both but liked the BORN FREE glass bottles the best. "YOUR" baby might tell you which ones she likes best so I would have both on hand and see which one she likes. I consulted with a sleep expert and she recommended either of those two bottles. I will tell you that the BORN FREE nipples tend to be slightly bigger and flow faster.
Good luck!

For me, I used the "MAM" brand bottles & nipples, which you can get on www.amazon.com

It is super cute, BPA free, NO air bubbles accumulates in the bottle as the baby drinks, and it is just the greatest bottles, and reasonable. It comes in 3 packs.

I used the other brands before, but I REALLY like MAM bottles. My son, whom I breastfed, LOVED these bottles as well. He did not like the other brands.

You can also read the reviews of it on Amazon.

Good luck,

Born free worked great for my daughter-I bought one of each initially then let her decide. She drank better with Born Free. They are not difficult to clean, just pull apart the pieces let them soak in hot soapy water. I also didn't have any issues with bottle brushes when cleaning. You do have to assemble them correctly so they do not leak, I discovered I was initially closing the lid too tight & it leaked. Once I figured that out, they were fine. I tried 5 different kinds & Born Free worked best. Good luck :)

I love my Avent bottles but I've not tried Born Free.
