Aunt Flow Is on Strike... Help!

My period was due LAST Sunday, now we are on Monday and still no Aunt Flow. I usually alternate between a 28-day cycle and 31-day cycle and now I am on cycle day 40. I took a Walgreen's brand digital test on Wednesday and Friday and they were both negative. I thought maybe it was the generic thing so I took a First Response test on Saturday and still it was negative. Has anyone ever had a super late period with no pregnancy or a pregnany this late in the game that STILL showed negative on urine tests? What did it turn out to be? At what point should I call the doctor? I am only 26... so I'm pretty sure it's not "the change". :)

What can I do next?

So What Happened?™

Started my period on Friday night. I was 12 days late. Still not too sure why... but at least I started. Thank you all for calming me down during my confusing time.

Have you been more stressed than usual? Started a new exercise program? Any major changes to your diet? All of those things can delay ovulation, which would make your cycle longer. Plus, if you're still breastfeeding your 10 month-old, that can make things irregular too. Either way, I'd give it 2-3 weeks and if AF still hasn't reappeared, you can re-test for pregnancy. I have always had long/irregular cycles - sometimes up to 3 months. But the times that I was pregnant I suspected right away. Pregnancy tests should detect a + about 12 days after you ovulate, if you're actually pregnant.

I wouldn't get too panicky. There are just times when our bodies can get a little out of sync. Changing jobs, surprise stressers in life. Recent losses. If it continues, go to the doctor, if you don't get it at all of course go to the doctor. Or if it does come and it is really different check it out. But one late time isn't the end of the world.
