Hi Ladies,
I haven't heard of anyone using AT&T U-verse and was wondering if you had any thoughts good or bad about it. We currently have cable, but thinking of making the switch.

Thanks!

Comcast is so much better in many ways. They both try to say they'll save you money, but I've done both and in the end I ended up in collection with AT&T because they charged me for things I didn't receive and refused to take it off my bills. Their customer service was TERRIBLE. I finally got everything straightened out, but I would never recommend AT&T. Horrible customer service and bad service overall. Comcast, at least for us, is so much better.

We made the switch about 6 weeks ago and are VERY happy we did!! Not only are we saving $ over Comcast, we get WAY more for our $ and the service has been excellent. Also, we are still able to use our Tivo box which we love (and have a lifetime membership paid for). We had a hard time deciding to switch but are sob glad we did!

We have U-verse and love it. We had the dish through At&t before, but wanted to switch to cable. For us Comcast was more expensive. Comcast wanted to charge us per TV while U-verse was a flat fee. We have not had any problems with our phones, internet, or cable service. I called one time b/c my call waiting caller ID wasn't working (the day after we had it installed) and the customer service was fantastic. The issue was fixed promptly and the person was very friendly and helpful. Before u-verse we had a lot of trouble with our internet...now we haven't had any problems and it is pretty fast. We really love the DVR system too. You can record up to 4 things on 1 box and still watch something else, plus you can watch what you recorded on any of your tv's...great feature. We are 100% happy with our decision to switch to U-Verse. Good Luck!

We have AT&T U-verse and like it very much. We had comcast and hated how they kept taking away channels from our package and putting them into a more expensive package. So since we already had AT&T for our DSL, Home Phone, and cell phones, it only made sense to switch. We have a package deal and I love the wireless internet now. Another perk, we have one DVR, but can playback what we've recorded on any TV in the house. Perfect for when daddy wants to watch something else. I also like rewinding and pausing live TV...especially when the phone rings during my favorite show!

I am not sure it is worth the trouble for you. We had cable then switched to AT and T.We have to have their phone line because our village reads the water meter through AT AND T. So we had the Dish and internet also. We had so many problems with the Dish, it went out all the time. WE did like that we could back up and see what we missed, though. We had it for the eighteen month contract then immediately went back to cable which we had previously over ten years. We thought we were getting a 3 for package, phone, cable and internet and found it is costing us a lot more, but we are saving ourselves at least 60 dollars a month even including long distance calls out of the country. There have been some gliches but it seems fine now. Not sure what will happen in February with the big change. So I don't know if this helps or not but that is our experience. I'd kind of recommend not changing anything and AT and T has a contract that you would have to wait out should you be unhappy. And then we had to pack, wrap and ship our things back to AT And T through UPS.

Hi there. We had Comcast then switched to ATT U-verse thinking we would save money...no price was around the same and we constantly had problems with the SPROUT channel. My daughter loves that station. We switched back within the 14 day period and did not have to pay anything. ATT tells you not to cancel Comcast till they set you up. This is what I have learned. I will never just switch without calling our current company first to find out what they can do about my bill. When I decided to go back to Comcast, I called them and told them I was going to switch to ATT & then asked them what they could do for me. They lowered my bill to $60 a month and I have the same package (Silver) that I have always had. This price is good for 1 year. Try that before you switch. Good luck.

My girl friend who live on the Southside of Woodstock has it and loves it. She switched from Comcast.
But I live on the Northside of Woodstock and can't get it yet. They have not done the change of on the lones yet where we built our house. :( Would love to have it. If you go in on ATT website you can find out if it is available on your street.

LOVE the AT&T U-Verse, which IS different from the Dish.
Don't confuse the 2. The onky thing we were kinds if-y about was the fact that every tv needs it's own box. But turns out to be a good thing becasue of the DVR. I record all my programs and can watch them from any tv in the house. And I am not strapped tot he tv, I can watch on my time. You also can make money back by recommending people to the service, up to $500.00 a year. The picture qaulity just can not be beat, especially on a hi-def tv.
Takes a little toget use to how it works, but all in all, we love it. We had comcast & they were alwyas here trying to fix a problem. I had them tomy house 25 times in 1 month, and they still could not figure out what was wrong, UNTIL the day I called tocancel the service, then it was an easy fix of a new box, which I had asked for all along, and they refused to give tome. SO long comcast.

U-Verse is great, and bundling your phone/cable/internet and cell phone all together will definitely save you money. A lot of people complain about the customer service, but I always had LOADS more trouble dealing with Comcast and their faulty equipment than I have had with AT&T. I will say that the people who did the install on my U-verse stuff were contracted out and didn't know what they were doing. However, after I placed my call and insisted they send someone out, the REAL AT&T crew had a clue and were able to fix everything right up. I've been working smoothly without a glitch ever since, which I cannot say in all the time I had Comcast - I had to reboot my modem at least once a week with them, and their DVR had a habit of acting up on us as well. U-Verse has been smooth and they keep upgrading the service without increasing the cost. I highly recommend them.

I regret switching from Comcast to AT&T. For the 3 bundled services, it's not cheaper. They don't have many free channels, I watched a lot of kids shows and documentaries on comcast. These are not available on AT&T.

I do love the DVR, which is free/included with the U-verse package.

I don't think the most expensive AT&T internet is as fast as cable.

I switched from DISH to U-Verse and love it. It did actually save us about $50 a month when me made them move and we're very happy with the service. My kids LOVE Sprout which we didn't have with Dish so now everyone is happy. :)

We tried the AT&T U-verse and we were not happy with it. Alot of the programming that we normally watch was just not available. We used alot the Comcast's On Demand feature which is awesome, there is so much information and programming that is free on On Demand, so we switched back to Comcast and paying about the same. We do have the triple play which is cable, phone and internet -- we love it. I understand the price is only for 1 year but there is no contract and I can cancel at any time without penalties. Plus you don't have to jump thru hoops to get a good rate, the customer service that I've exprerienced has been great. Just ask when your promo is ending if there is anything they can do to keep your bill down and they do work with you, they are very good with keeping their customers happy. Atleast I feel they have done alot to keep me happy, plus I love their services. I hope this helps and whatever you decide you are happy with it. Good Luck!

We made the switch when we moved into our new house in Vernon Hills. We love it! You get a lot more channels for the same price. They offered $200 cash back, so for right now, they paid me to install it! The customer service is better than Comcast. I would definitely recommend giving it a try.

Ali -

It sounds like everyone else has about the same issues with U-Verse that I had - the install was a nightmare - took almost all day - and they left my house in disarray - including the house phone hanging off the wall - and NO HOME PHONE SERVICE. However - again it wasn't their own contractors - it was independent contractors and once I complained - they brought their own contractors out - and a senior manager did a site visit - and gave me his direct line as well. Once the install nightmare was over - things have been fine. We love the DVR - for the same reasons everyone else does -that you can watch the recorded programs from any TV on the network - the wireless has been good for us - the bundles prices are great as well.

I have not had any difficulty with the customer service either - and couldn't believe how responsive they were when I reported my installation nightmare. All in all - I like the system.
Good luck!

I've had AT&T phone and Internet for years, and recently switched from my Comcast cable to U-Verse. The installation did take all day, so be prepared for that, but when he left everything worked 100% fine. My Comcast cable used to go out all the time, I've not had that issue with AT&T, even when we had the ice storm last week. I'm also saving $80 a month and that's with an extra phone line and an extra room with cable in it that I didn't have before. I run a network in my house, 6 computers total, three of them gaming, and one I use for work with a complicated VPN and I have no lag times or issues with it running using the second fastest Internet service AT&T offers. Of course you can't compare a DSL to cable, which is what Comcast uses, but for the cost, it's more that worth it to give up a few extra minutes of download time.

The best part of all of this is that AT&T's price isn't introductory, like the bundled services from Comcast, that can have your bill double when the promotional time period is over. This is AT&T's all the time price and I'm very happy with it.

We just switched to U-verse before Christmas, and although the savings have been great and we're very happy with the TV reception/Internet, it's been a very painful process to get here!

A day before our 8 HOUR installation, we got a call saying that the phone company wouldn't port our ph# over to AT&T. "But, ummmm...YOU are our phone company. Are you trying to tell me you're not cooperating with yourself????" Weeks later, we still have a temp ph# and hope to have it resolved soon (HA).

How smoothly the install goes depends on how good a tech you get. I'd recommend going hardwire if you're hooking multiple PCs. It's more reliable than wireless, but you may be stuck with doing the wiring yourself or paying extra.

Be sure you figure out how it all works before the tech leaves. I still can't switch between stations, but my kids have it mastered, of course LOL. GOOD LUCK!

I am currently thinking about switching from AT&T U-verse. The first few bills are reasonably priced, then it gets pricey. I am paying more than 250 per month. We don't order ppv so I don't understand why the bills are so high. The service isn't good either. The television picture is often very distorted and corrupt. Sometimes it freezes altogether and the internet is very slow. As far as we are concerned it is not worth the money or the frustration.

Hi A.,

We have ATT Uverse and LOVE it. It is quicker on the internet and the tv never goes out. My only warning is to have the installer run all new wiring for your boxes. They did not do that for us and after 4 weeks of people coming out they finally realized that it was due to poor wiring that was originally from the dish people. Good Luck. We love ours.
