Humm. . . apparently I'm in the minority. We went over Christmas 2007 and I won't go back. In my opinion it's nothing but a HUGE water park and casino. I'm not into either and was unimpressed by the whole thing. Plus, as others have pointed out, it is very expensive.

There were 15 of us total, with 7 kids aged 18 - 12. Even the kids said it was fun, but have no desire to go back.

We went this past Spring...just me and my hubby. Oh..and about 200 people from his company. It was a business trip. We had a blast!! Oh my goodness it was paradise!!

It was an amazing experience!! We loved it. I think it would be fabulous for a family trip. We only went because it was on the company's dime. It is pricey!! But..there is soooo much to do..and for kids.

I personally would love to take our kids but we don't want to spend that kind of money when we know we can find similar type resorts state side and not need passports or long flights. We haven't looked into other resorts yet. But, seems like when we talk to friends about their vacation experiences they have similar stories of activities provided.

The only...and I mean only drawback from our experience was that it rained a ton!! So...for about 4 days no one went outside. Talk about torture to look out your window at gorgeous beaches, watersides, the dolphin encounter and the lazy river and see on one enjoying it.

I saw families walking around inside, crying/cranky kids which usually equals cranky parents. Sure there are activities like a movie theatre inside but how many movies do you want to see when you are in the Bahamas. There is an aquarium in the hotel which is nice. All the other activities you pay for...paint your own pottery, Kids Zone etc. I will add that their salon is the best I have ever seen. I got a full body massage and it was phenomenal!! I was very pampered from beginning to end of the experience.

They said that the tropical storm we had was not normal. Just something to consider when you go in the spring to someplace so far away and pricey.

Good luck and best wishes!!

It's huge and beautiful!
Tons to do. The room I was in was spacious and comfortable (I was in the main tower). The restaurants are tasty, there are some cool exhibits in the hotel with stingrays, huge caves (again, in the hotel) with marine antiques and exotic fish tanks.
You can do beach or pool.
There is a sundry store onsite, and the casino is very nice.

We loved it!

Yes, we took our two boys, ages 12 and 15 at the time, for spring break last year. It is both awesome and expensive. Our boys loved it. We tried to eat rather cheaply, or at least as much as possible. What kind of information do want? Where to stay? Activities? Where to eat? How old are your kids? I answered a similar question probably during the summer if you want to look back at my old answers or archives. I think I might also have asked a question about Atlantis on this site before we went. Feel free to PM me with specific questions.

ETA: hope this isnt a duplicate. I started typing an answer and then lost it. The hotels/towers vary by price and quality. The Royal Tower is the main tower and the most centrally located. It is closest to the waterpark and contains the aquarium know as The Dig.

We stayed in the Coral Towers, one step down in quality and about a 10-15 minute walk from the waterpark. The location was perfect for us. We had our own pool area, which wasn't as crowded and we were 5 min. from the Marina area where we ate most of our dinners. It also contained the teen nightclub for our older son and the remote controlled car racetrack. The tween nightclub for our younger son wasn't far away. The rooms were o.k., nothing fancy.

The Beach Tower is about 5 minutes farther away from the waterpark and is the cheapest hotel on the property. They also have their own pool and a little lazy river and overlook the beach.

If you want a bargain and want to stay off property I have friends who have stayed at the Comfort Suites just outside of Atlantis. It offers full waterpark privileges. It is nothing fancy, but was recently renovated and includes breakfast.

The other towers, condos, etc. would be considered luxury accomodations.

Another ETA: I got a small discount on our accommodations through Travelzoo. There are frequently promotions.

We went 10 years ago on a company conference and stayed in the Royal Towers...all on their dime. We loved it. We are going back next year with our son who will be 5. We are planning to stay at the Beach Towers and if you watch the promotions and book far enough in advance it is not expensive. Rooms sometimes start at 99 dollars a night. I would not do the dining plans as there are lots of reasonably priced places to eat and we usually eat breakfast in our rooms anyway. Go for it, lots to do.

We went to the Bahamas on a cruise once. And while we were there, we checked out Atlantis. It was so awesome there. And it looked like so much for the kids. I've been saying I'd love to take the kids and go there. While we were there, we did talk to some people who were staying there, and they had bought package deals and the prices seemed pretty reasonable. Good luck and have fun!

So, I cannot tell you much. I have not been , but my friend has, and I remember her saying it was really really awesome. Lots to do for the whole family, they had kids programs so the adults could go do their own thing etc. Expensive though. But she really really liked it!
