We have had Aetna for several years and I have loved it. We have what they call the Point of Service Plan which means no referrals needed. It is great. Low deductable if the Dr. is not an Aetna Provider.

We have Aetna through my husband's job and it has been wonderful. We pay $2 copays for prescription drugs and $5 to see any type of doctor/specialist in their network. They also only charge a one time $5 copay to have a baby-crazy!

But as with any healthcare provider there are different levels of service depending on how much you pay or your company pays for the plan.

R.,
We have Aetna HMO thru my husband`s job. In order to have the best coverage you need to choose doctors in your network. We haven`t used it for anything out of the ordinary, just our yearly check ups, but so far so good. At my last mammogram, I didn`t have to pay anything because I am over 40.

I do not have Aetna currently (but wish I did) I did not have any problems with them at all. If you do get an HMO be prepared to "fight" if you or your family needs an expensive brand name drug, they make you "try" several generic drugs before they consider paying for an expensive brand name one. My only other issue was, I had an ultrasound done (to confirm miscarriage) and the radiologist that read it, was not on the "plan", therefore Aetna did not pay them and I knew nothing about it till I got a credit agency letter in the mail. At that time I called Aetna and they promtly took care of it. Good luck.

I have Aetna Health Insurance through my husband's job. It is probably the BEST insurance that we have ever had. Of course, the plan that you are on depends on what the company chooses - my husband's company just happened to choose a really good plan. Twenty dollar co-pays at any doctor, twenty dollar co-pays at urgent care centers. Really good.

I use to have AETNA insurance and it was great! Not a huge co-pay and they were on time paying the bills!

I now have B/C & B/S and they are pretty good too, but when I was going through my infertility treatments, Aetna would pay for some of it. B/C & B/S, no way! They didn't pay a dime!

Good Luck!

I have insurance through my work and the copay is 15 dollars when you go to the doctor. 15 dollers for generic and 20 dollars for brande names. It is my first time to have insurance so i get scared if I were to go to the doctor I will end up with a big bill at the end. I am weird

We have Aetna through my husband's job. I was in the hospital for a couple of months after our child was born with mutiple complications. The bill totaled near one million (not kidding), and Aetna paid it all.

I personally have not had Aetna but I am an insurance broker and I highly recommend them the majority of the time. Like some of the ladies mentioned, it does depend on what plan the employer chooses but they are a very good reputable insurance carrier.
