My family, like many families,is having a rough time right now. We were doing great until I got put on bedrest 4 months into my pregnancy. I am now 6 months pregnant and bedrest isnt quite so strict but still strict enough that I cant go back to work until the baby comes in Jan. My question is,does anyone know of any agency that will help with winter clothes and baby things...I have not been able to buy one thing for the new baby. I also would be looking for carseats for my kiddos because we were in a wreck last month and ours had to be trashed.I feel like such an awful mother at this point. I have a 4 year old boy and an almost 2 year old girl and am due with another boy in Jan. I hate being in this postion...to put it bluntly it just plain sucks. I went to Mission Arlington and was not able to find anything to help in my kiddos size. Winter clothes are the most important thing right now to me. I have already accepted that we will not have a Christmas this year...but Christmas is about so much more than gifts and I am truly blessed in many ways. I do hope however to scrimp up enough for a tree and lights for my babies. I would have to go somewhere in Arlington because our car is not very dependable right now. Any advice is appreciated!!!! Thanks in advance and Happy Holidays!!!

Please contact SafeKids of Tarrant County and explain to them what is going on with your car seat situation, they can definitely help you out. You may have to set an appointment with them, or maybe they have a seat check in Arlington coming up soon.

I am sorry to hear about your situation & although I do not know of anyone for the winter clothes, but I do know that when your involved in an accident the car seats that were trashed should have been replaced by the At fault insurance company for the accident & if it was your fault your auto policy would also fund to replace as it is considered property damage. Let me know if insurance was involved in repairing your vehicle. That might help at least get your car seats replaced. If no insurance, and not your fault you can still request it from the at fault insurance company unless you have already signed a release with them, which I would hope not, as it would be too soon.

Hi CC,
You might call your local school and see if they can connect you with the early pre-school PTA group or moms group. There may be moms there who have good used clothes that they can pass on to you. See if the school has a school counselor-they may know about additional resources in Arlington. Another thing is to check with the local churches--if you don't have a church connection ask a friend where they go to church. Good luck!

I would suggest you sign up on Freecycle.org for the Arlington area. Tell people what you need. You would be amazed at the generosity of people if they know specifically what you need. I would also check with local churches to see if they know who else can help you. Many churches have their own "angel trees", and can put your children's wishes on the trees for people to buy. Oh yea, there is a program through the FTW Star Telegram, I think, called Good Samaritan's I think. They may be able to help, too. Good luck!

Have you check with local churches? As for the car seats, if you were in an accident, your car insurance may cover new car seats since they are supposed to be trashed after an accident. I'm not sure what type of coverage it has to be, but get your agents number and give him/her a call and ask. It's worth a shot. Another idea is to ask your friends that may kids a bit older than yours if there is anything they could loan you for the winter in your kids sizes or if they could just pass down anything their children have outgrown.

You have some great ideas for clothing.
Here is some ideas for Christmas Mission Arlington, Arlington Parks, and also try the floowing link.
You can sumbit a Christmas Wish and many people pick a family to help. We were picked one year and it was such a blessing not only did my kids have a christmas but the family took us all to Chuckie Cheese and the kids had a fun time and dinner. This family who decided to help us, gave back such a blessing to our family that year !

I live in Mansfield and I know MISD has a clothes closet that offers clothing to those in need. You might try calling AISD to see if they have anything like that available. What sizes of clothing do you need?? Maybe I can help out. I am a SAHM of four. You can send me your email address and I can see what I can come up with!!

Grace Outreach in Grapevine helps with clothing needs. I know it is not in Arlington but I don't know of anything over that way. You might ought to call a church and ask if they know of anywhere around you that provides food and clothing.

I am so sorry to hear about your situation. I am not sure if you like handme downs, but if your daughter wears at 3t I would be more than happy to give you some winder clothes. My name is Tasha, and I am in Arlington all the time you can call me at ###-###-####. Take care and stay positive, I am in the same boat as you. Also their is a store in Arlington called Kid to Kid and you could trade your kids old clothes for some that they can wear this winter that is what I have been doing for my daughter. That is how I got her winder coat.

Please try Arlington Resale (corner of I-20 & Little Road in S. Arlington). They have a lot of baby stuff and kid stuff. They donate items to pregnant women like yourself all the time. I'm sure they'd be able to help. They are a wonderful resource.
