I am new to Colorado and don't really have any friends here. If I do they are very young and are not Moms and just don't know what I am talking about. I was wondering if there were any Mom oriented clubs or groups out here. I want to meet new people and maybe make some friends. I feel lonely because I am here by myself. I do have my boyfriend but boys just don't understand some things. My friends and family all live in texas so when I want to hang out or do something I am usually hanging out with my mother in law. I really like her, she is great I just wish I had more real friends. If anyone knows of any clubs, even book clubs I would really like to hear from you. Thanks for all of your help!

M.,
Hi! I want to say that I am in the same boat as you and several other moms that have responded. My husband works for Furniture Row and was transferred here a few weeks ago. We live in Thornton, 120th near York. I am a SAHM, so my daughter (2 1/2) and I are always looking for fun things to do. I really want to meet some other moms who have kids close to Gracelyn's age. So, if you ever want to get together, we are free pretty much all the time. Just message me or something. There are so many things to do around here, but my husband works ALL the time and its sometimes more fun to have someone for Gracelyn and I to enjoy the day with. I wish you the best. God Bless!

Hi M.,

There is something call MOPS (mother of preschoolers) that are done through many churches in the metro area. They meet twice a month usually on Tuesday or Thursday every other week. Go to Mops.org and click on find local group, you can visit different groups if you like to find one that fits you. Hope this helps.

Hi M.. I am in the same boat as you, though I am not new to Denver, all of my friends are single with no kids. It is hard. At the Flat Irons Mall there is a mommy club that gets together and does yoga and things with your baby. It looks like it would be a lot of fun. My daughter is 2 1/2 so she is a little old to participate but I have seen them at the mall several times. I think they have an advertisement or sign of some sort near the dinosaur playland. I have seen them there on the weekends having their class and handing our fliers. You might want to try that.

If anyone else has responded to your posting with suggestions I would love to know what they have said as well. I am always looking for new friends with kids. I have a scrapbooking get together every month or two if you are interested, let me know.

Good Luck,
A.

Hi M.,

Try going online and finding Moxie Moms... I know there's a chapter in our area. They organize fun outings for moms and their kids, like hiking and dancing and coffee.

Good luck and welcome to Colorado!

Hi M.,

I too am new to the Denver area. All of my family is also back in Texas. I am married with 2 boys and I'm pregnant again :)

We go to Stonebrook Christian Church in Thornton. The church is actually held at Stonebrook Manor facility. WE love it! There is ALWAYS tons of stuff going on for moms and also things to do with your children, these things aren't "churchy" at all either.

We have Ladies Craft night once a month.

Women's Brunch once every quarter.

Once Spring begins and thru October we have an outing event once a week you can go to. Anything from, "meet at the park and have lunch together" or play in the "huge water fountain at the promonade." Go to the Berry Patch Farm in Brighton. There are so many things to do in the Denver metro area, and this is a great way to meet other moms and our children get to play together as well. Last summer was our first in Denver and we had so much fun, just meeting up with other moms, getting out of the house and seeing all the fun/free things out there.

Even if you work, you would still have an opportunity to join in.

If you find this info helpful, let me know and i can help you get connected.

Enjoy your day!
M.

Hi M. - My husband and I moved to Westminster in July so we are pretty new too. I joined the Westminster MOMs club and LOVE it!!! The women are so nice, inviting, just wonderful. They do all kinds of events during the day, book club, recipe club, going to parks, zoo anything you can think of. They even have a Moms night out once a month. You can look at www.momsclub.com to see the different chapters. I think there are ones in all three cities you listed. Since the stuff is during the day, I guess it depends when you work. Another place to check out is www.meetup.com. You can search by city and topic (moms clubs). Hope this helps. Feel free to contact me with any questions. We're having alot of fun out here, welcome to Colorado : ) We have a 22 month old girl, we can always try a play date out to see how it goes.

Hi M.. My name is A.. I just moved here (Thornton) in September and was also looking for other moms. I found a group on myspace.com called Colorado Kiddos. It is a group that arranges playdates for the kids. I have found it to be a good place to meet other moms and find other kids to play with. Their website is http://groups.myspace.com/coloradokiddos

You don't have to be a member of myspace.com to join the group but I think myspace.com is also a good place to meet people too. I have also made a couple friends there.

Most libraries should have a book club. I just got a card at the Thornton branch this weekend and got info about their club (called Book N Brew). They meet the second Tuesday of the month I believe. This is the website for the Adams County library: www.adams.lib.co.us Most branches also have activities for kids too.

How old is your little boy? I am a stay-at-home mom, married with two boys - one will be 3 in two months and the other is 8 months. Welcome to the area. I hope this info helps you!! Feel free to email me if you need someone to talk to or hang out with!

Good Luck,
A. Sheaves
