Im looking for an apple orchard close to the cities. Im sure this was probably posted already but I couldnt find it. My whole family goes apple picking every year and we would love to find one that is fun for young kids. I have found a few in Hastings and White Bear Lake but dont know anything about them. Does anyone have an apple orchard they love to go to? Thanks

What can I do next?

We got lots of recommendations for all kinds of places. We went to Aamodt's Apple Farm a couple of weekends ago. They have animals to pet, pony rides, wagon rides, apple picking, a bakery and store. It was great there! They are located in Stillwater.

A place I used to go when I was a kid was Pinetree Apple Orchard. I don't remember it too much. They are in White Bear Lake.

Afton Apple is where we always go. They have great things for the kids (petting zoo, hay rides, pumpkin patch, playground with slides and swings, corn maze, berry picking) as well as plenty of space in a picnic and play area to bring a lunch and eat your picked apples. Very fun time!

We're leaving in about 20 minutes for Afton Apples in Hastings. They are the only place anywhere around here that you can still pick your own.... the one in white bear, PIne Tree I believe, you can only ride through on a hay cart. Afton has a haystack, little playground, a hayride, a corn maze, and possibly a little petting zoo. It sounds like a really great place for kids. My daughter is two and a half also.

Afton Apple in Hastings in really nice. You take a hayride out to the apple orchard and pick your own. Then you can ride to the pumpkin patches and pick those too, plus there is a place where they have a huge playground with facepainting and wood carving exhibits. There is a maze there too, and a little shop with goodies. HAve fun!

There's Aamodt's in Stillwater off of Hwy 36 I believe. I've never actually been there but have driven past and heard alot of great things.

We have family who lives in Mahtomedhi and so we went with them to one by White Bear Lake last year--I don't remember the name. It was a beautiful weekend, and I've never seen so many people at an orchard in my life. It was like a football game. You could not pick your own apples. And the line to buy apples outside was absolutely incredible. I would not recommend this one.

I've been to Afton Apples, and that was a lot quieter. It still had some kids from schools there in groups, but it was manageable. They also had designated trees where you could pick your own--or at least let your kid experience what picking an apple from a tree is like.

Good Luck!! I'm trying to find an organic apple orchard this year.
