Anyone Who Used Ovulation Kits for Choosing the Sex of Baby?

Hi all, we are planning for the 2nd child. We have a daughter and next we want a son to complete the family. I read Dr. Shettles book about choosing the sex of your baby. I am keeping track of all my ovulation symptoms. Even then sometimes an irregular cycle can make a big difference. My average ovulation day is 17th but minimum was 14th and maximum was 21st. So i want to try ovulation kit because i want to conceive during this time so that i can deliver my baby in December when my parents will be here to visit me. I don't want to miss this ovulation so i need your help. How many of you have used ovulation kits to choose the sex of your baby and found it helpful. Please tell me your experiences in detial. Thank you much.

What can I do next?

Do not know anything about "ovulation kits", but I know the Chinese believe that the year of the conception determines 80% chance, even year girl, odd year boy...Good Luck!

You have received great advice so far. I read the book kept track of everything changed diet and we timed everything perfect to have a boy since we already had a girl. I used the ovulation kit too. Guess what our second girl is due in June and we are now thrilled to have two girls and could not think of anything else. What I learned god is in control and hand picks each child for your family. Enjoy your family have fun trying for another but if you have your heart set on a boy- adopt their are many babies out there that need great homes. That is the only way to be certain you will have a boy. Good luck to you.

i don't want to be a killjoy, and there are "ways" you can try to manipulate the gender, but don't get your hopes up. my sister-in-law desperately wanted a girl, after 3 boys and tried every trick in the book to concieve a girl. they now have 6 boys, and are done trying. i would hope you feel your family is complete regardless of the gender.

There is a scientific basis behind girls and boys but in the end its all a matter of luck. Don't stress yourself out too much, the more stressed you are the more likely its not to happen. That said, the closer to ovulation you do the deed the more likely you are to have a boy. Have you thought of a saliva microscope instead of ovulation kits/as well possibly. Your saliva actually changes throughout the month. I found this fascinating to watch although a little tricky and I got pregnant with my boy the first month of doing this expt. Hope this helps

Oh gosh, you're going to plan yourself into taking longer in getting pregnant. God has a plan for what sex you will have. Leave him in control and concentrate on just getting pregnant. Good luck.

OK..not to burst your bubble, but my story may help you. We had two girls and I desperately wanted a boy. My husband agreed that we could only try if I did everything I could to get a boy. I bought the Shettles book and read it/highlighted it/studied it, googled everything on the topic, prayed and prayed and prayed. I tracked my ovulation for 4 months, used the kits, even changed my diet. I had a chart up in the bathroom that I kept track of everything (I am very ocd). We got pregnant on the only try. What do you think we got....another girl! She is truely the joy of our lives...an absolute angel. About 9 months after she was born, I got a huge surprise...I was pregnant again! I was still nursing, no period at all, and the ONLY time we did not use a condom. We got our boy! The lesson I learned....God chooses...it is sooooo not up to us! Only have a baby if you want a baby, not a gender. So many people told me the same thing and I rolled my eyes, but it is so true! Good luck and I hope you get what you want :)

I was lucky enough to get the sex that we tried for each time...first time a boy, second time a girl. i went to Barnes and Noble and sat down in the fertilization section and tooks lots of notes. First, I read a book which had a chart on charting ovulation AND secretions. It explains when you are most likely to get pregnant with the different secretions. I also followed the diet they recommended - boy and girls like different environments in their Mom's body. Also, positions and how you have intercourse are a factor. I believe the book was called, "How to get pregnant and not to get pregnant" (something close to that).
Good luck!

We will be trying for a boy late summer....when the chinese calendar says it's high for a boy. We will also try everything else my husband read on the internet... change diet, certain positions, when to do it, etc. I hope you get what you want :) We have 2 girls and are trying for our little boy. Best of luck to you & your family :)
