Anyone Tried a Belly Wrap After Pregnancy?

Has anyone tried a "Belly Bandit" or "Taut" belly wrap after pregnancy? I just checked out a few online and was wondering if any "real" person has had success. The celebs claim that the product works; which I am sure it does along with a personal trainer and chef. But how about any of you? I plan on working out and am a really healthy eater. I lost all my weight and some with the first pregnancy, but was never firm. Just curious...

So What Happened?

Thanks for all the responses. I bought the Belly Bandit. It arrived the day I delivered and I have been wearing it for 10 days now (super quick shipping). I have to admit I love it! I can see a definite difference everyday in the size of my post pregnancy belly. I am comparing my size to my first pregnancy 3 years ago and I can see a dramatic difference in the way I look and feel. It is also a comfortable feeling of being held in. I am not saying it is a "Miracle cure". I am also walking a little everyday and nursing. I had a vaginal delivery, but the Belly Bandit I chose is the bamboo which is also suggested for cesarian deliveries. My skeptic mom also agrees that it is worth the $65.00.

I tried the taut but it didn't work like it should have because I didn't start wearing it right after delivery. If u wear it like your second skin after delivery it works.

Save your money. The exercise and diet are the answer. None of that pseudoscience stuff actually works--as you say, it's the personal trainer and the chef. And a really easy way to get celebs to part with a little of their money.

hello, C.

I am the mother of 2 and I used the belly wrap for both my babies. I asked the doctor to put it on before I left the delivery room. I had two C-sections. I gained 38lbs pregnant with my first, but was shocked when I didn't have a 38lb baby - because my belly area was really the only area where I gained any weight. The wrap helped tremendously, for the pain and for the weight loss. But I wore it religiously. I never took it off, I even slept with it on. When I went to the doctor for my two week followup, she couldn't believe I had just had a baby. My stomach was flat - a little flabby for about a month, but flat nonetheless. Then after that, all the work that came with being a mom tightened up my belly and the skin.
Then with my second, I again left the delivery room with it on. And my baby was in the NICU for 6 days - on that first evening when I went in to breast feed, they repeatedly check my band with my baby's because she said I didn't look like I had given birth 10hrs before. My maternity pants were severely loose, but I wore those too for a long time just so I wouldn't put any pressure on my belly in one spot. The belly wrap evens out the pressure, and the tightness is rather comforting in the first day or so of delivering. At least it was for me. I am a "firm" believer in the benefits of the belly wrap. I hope this helps. Good Luck and may God bless you and your family.

Hi Cissy,
I had the same question when my daughter...first time mom asked me to buy a Belly Bandit for her. I did call up her dr's office and asked if they really work and they said yes they do. She just started wearing it yesterday...7 days after natural delivery since that's how the shipping went. We will let you know in about 6 weeks. I had heard when I was having babies about the Oriental women's practice of binding the belly and I thought it was absurd, but now I wish I had been more interested in trying something new. Good luck to you !
All the best,
New Grandma K.

I never used a 'belly wrap'-I did however use a girdle, sewed it up the back around the area of my pelvis bone up to my back and wore it from the time I arrived home with the baby, until my 6 week check up. IT WORKS! To this day I do not have a belly, my daughters are 31 and 27.
I do NOT suggest this if you have had a C-Section.

I am so glad you asked this question. I am anxious to see the responses. I've been curious about using one as well. My second child is due in August.

Yesterday on The Doctor's the Plastic Surgeon suggested wearing one 40 days after giving birth to assist in healing after delivery. He compared it to after undergoing Lipo and using compression bandgages. Made sense to me!
I copied this from the show website:
"Body after Baby
Are you struggling to lose your postpartum baby belly? Many women struggle to regain their pre-baby figure, so The Doctors offer some tips.

1. Before the baby comes, get yourself in the best physical shape possible. During the course of your pregnancy, try not to gain too much weight.

2. After the baby is born, a woman’s uterus and other organs are swollen and retain fluid. To combat the swelling, plastic surgeon Dr. Drew Ordon suggests wearing a belly band, a tried-and-true, inexpensive way to help shrink the belly. He suggests wearing it for the first several months after you give birth. "

Looking forward to seeing real life testimonials.
Thanks and best wishes,
H
