Anyone Know of a "Push-toy" That Actually Works?!
I have an 8 1/2 month old very active boy who has just taken his first steps on his own and all he wants to do it WALK! We tried a walker ( I know I know they are bad) but he is WAY to big for it anyway so it didn't work. He is 24lbs and super strong- I also tried the fisher price "push-toy" and it was a joke, it is so light he was tossing it around with one hand- we also have the Chicco combo-car/bike thing that you can have them sit on and also use as a push toy and that is a joke because it's too hard for him to manuver :) anyway- looking for tips on what might work that is durable and weighted well-
thanks!!!

Believe it or not, my daughter pushed around an empty Tide box. She was walking at 10 months. She would pull herself up on it and put stuff in it and push it all over the house. We had hard wood floors. I don't think it would work on carpet. We also had a wagon that she would push outside while we would "pull" with the handle. We still have the wagon and the Tide box got recycled.

My son learned to walk with a simialar toy as the choco toy, but it is spiderman themed. It is really light and easy to manuver however it is stable. When he started pulling himself up on his own I put him behind it and he started walking at 9 months. He is also a very big boy, he is 11 months now, 30 lbs and 35" tall.

I don't know where you are located, but we bought a wooden wagon/block combo push wagon when my older daughter started to walk. We found it at Lolabutter children's boutique in Escondido. It was slightly pricey, but she is almost 2 and still plays with the blocks and pushes it around the house. They also have the Radio Flyer wagon, if you're interested in that one.

Hi D.,
I also have a son he is almost 11 months. He has a little Lion "push-toy" that has a seat to sit on for later. I can't remember the brand but I purchased it at the Walmart in Murrieta. He loves to push it around and it is easy to maneuver, when he crashes into the wall or the fence outside. Hope this helps.
Best of luck

My daughter loved (and still does) pushing around the radio flyer push wagon! It's sturdy, fun and you and put toys or even your little one inside. Hope this helps...enjoy! ~C.

I don't kow about push-toys but...We opted for the Bright Starts "Around We Go". http://www.toysrus.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2651028 It's a "walker" that only uses about 4 square feet of space. The seat rotates 180 degrees so your baby can turn from side to side and run around the table, which has lots of toys and activities as well as a removable snack tray in whatever direction he likes. We got it for her at around 5 months old. She couldn't even move the chair at first but now she sprints all around it. Ever since she learned to walk assited, that's all she wants to do, but she will still play in this. Also she'll push the chair around the table- so I guess she does have a push-toy already.
They also have this the Tropical Smiles Around We Go: http://www.target.com/Bright-Starts-Tropical-Smiles-Aroun... The tropical smiles is cheaper than the original, but I bought mine on-line for $69 no shipping and no tax and NEW. (I saved $20 off ToysRUs/BabiesRUs plus another $8 tax and it was delivered to my doorstep.) I think it was an E-bay store or Amazon. If you want one, you can do a Google, NextTag, or Shopzilla search to find stores that carry it.

If he's walking well on his own, I wouldn't even bother with a push toy. Babies don't use them for very long, so why waste your money? Just walk with him when you can, and he'll get the hang of it. Have fun with your new walker! :)
