S.,
Unfortunatly I have become a pro at this as that my hubby has used it quite often this past yr. You have a one week waiting period (sitting no work for 1 week for each yr) then it takes 2 weeks to receive first check. You can go online to ides and file, if he happens to go back to work sporatically you can go back each time he is again off & refile online but make sure you have all of his paperwork because it is very specific ie how many weeks worked for specific time period, name, address, ph# for previous employers. After you have filed for the first time you will receive a notice in the mail for the certification process and every two weeks on mon, tues or wed he will have to certify on the phone, don't lose that paper that comes as that he will need the confirmation number on it. I hope this helps....email me if you need any other info..by the way the debit card also has to be certified on same way....direct deposit is so easy and lets you pay bills and not just "charge" things to the card./

Make sure he certifies ~ he will get nothing if he doesn't certify. Also, he will never get through to them EVER. You have to physically go there at least a half hour before they open in the morning and ask them in person. Unfortunately, my husband has now been through this 3 times and myself once so I know the drill. Good luck to your husband in finding a job.

Hi!
Vibha is correct...you have to certify your benefits. I know there is also a 3-week waiting period, or at least there was for me a few months ago. If he hasn't received anything after 3 weeks, he may have to call the local office.

YOur husband needs to certify - there is a Number that he is suppossed to call every two weeks and the payment is released every two weeks too. Every one gets a specific day of the week to call. He wll not be paid anything if there is no call. You have to answer automated question related to your unemployment.
If he has not got anything for weeks, you may have to contact your local office too, but the first step is to call.
