Hello,
Do you mean Dr Darryn Weinstein?
My son broke his tooth in a tumble when he was just maybe 18 months or less so we brought him to have his tooth fixed. My poor little guy had to be strapped to a papoose board and he screamed the whole time. I could not watch, my husband was there. I cried the whole time. It was a traumatic experience.
In the end the tooth has held up well (my son is 5) he did good work.
What I didn't like was he made comment about me nursing my son. He was <18 months old. He told me my son was way too old to be nursing and that I should stop.
I highly recommend Dr. McKallister at Wee Care Dentistry in Park Ridge.

Hi C. - I actually work for the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry. I just checked our data base and do not have a member by the name of Calb. We do have a Darryn Weinstein. What I can tell you is that as a member, he is a true Pediatric Dentist with 2 years additional training specializing in treating children. That doesn't mean that Dr. Calb isn't but he isn't a member so I can't confirm. A lot of general dentists treat children. We have about 95% of all pediatric dentists in the U.S. as our members so it's rare to come across one that isn't. Go to our web site www.aapd.org and you can do a doctor finder search by zip code and compare our members vs. your insurance coverage. There is also a lot of helpful parent info on the site. My daughter is 13 months old and I am bringing her to her first visit next Monday to Dr. Mary Tierney. She has a fabulous reputation and (I am told from some other members of ours) is great with really young kids. Good luck!

As a dentist myself, I feel the review on Dr Weinstein was not really fair. An 18 month old who broke his tooth would probably have that same experience no matter what dentist they went to. And mom was traumatized too because that's her baby. The only way a child would not be screaming is if they were sedated before the procedure, and after that little girl died a few months ago, moms are relucant to that and a papoose is really a great choice. I say if the work was well done, that should speak for itself. and I believe a relationship with a dentist is just that--not something you can establish with one "date". I know dentists who have worked with Dr. Weinstein and they say he is very meticulous and has lots of experience, even with the problem kids. I've also heard wonderful things about Dr. Tierney. Her office is new and the facility is gorgeous, if that matters. Good luck!

I don't know them, but Dr. Chris Moran is a pediatric dentist on the North Side and is wonderful!
