Anyone Have Experience with Lupron (Sp?) for Endomitriosis?

I had tons of fertility treatments to conceive my two precious daughters, and that included a round or two of Lupron for my endometriosis, which was considered severe even though I was never in pain. If her doctor recommends it, I would advise her to try the Lupron and not give up on conceiving, if that is what she wants!

I had severe Endo and was told that I would not be able to conceive if I didn't take Lupron. I had surgery to remove six cysts that were due to the Endo. When my doctor suggested lupron, I went online to research it. It took about 5 seconds to know that there was no friggin way I was going to let anyone inject that harsh of a chemical into my body. Instead, I did a TON of research on Endo and natural remedies. I changed my diet drastically based on the research I had done (there are many good books out there). I also, started exercising much more, found an excellent acupuncturist, and did some emotional healing through diff types of therapy. I am a firm believer in the mind/body connection. I ridded my lifestyle and diet of anything that caused an increase in Estrogen, such a certain plastics. After about a year on this new regimen I conceived my beautiful daughter. And to be honest, it was a surprise, we weren't even trying. If your friend would like to contact me, I would be more than happy to talk to her!

The cause of endmetriosis is usually estrogen dominance. Ask her if she has cherry angiomas on her torso. They are raised strawberry colored dots. If so, she has estrogen dominance which is a precursor to many illnesses like ovarian cysts, endometriosis, and even breast cancer and prostate cancer in men.
She should cleanse the excess estrogen out. If she is open to Chinese medicine, there is a doctor who has a product that will do this. Check out http://www.chi-analysis.com/blog. If more people knew about this, we could avoid lots of illness.
I know this may sound odd from a stranger, but Lupron is not treating the source of the ailment. Not advisable.

Hi, N.. I haven't had any experience with Lupron, but my gut tells me that if her ultimate goal is to have children, and if it would devastate her to cancel any plans to get pregnant, then it makes sense to at least try drug therapy before surgery.

From what you wrote, it is not clear whether one ovary or both ovaries are causing the problem. A woman can still get pregnant with one working ovary, so if the drug doesn't work and they have to remove one, just one, then she still has a chance at pregnancy. It may take longer to conceive with just one ovary, but it is certainly possible. The normal fertility cycle involves just one ovary each month -- alternating between left and right. She still has a few possibilities in front of her.

I hope the drug works, for her sake, because surgery is painful and she will have to adjust to a different hormonal cycle if she loses one or both ovaries. Please let her know I will say a prayer for her healing and ultimate motherhood.

I can't speak to the Lupron but I have endometriosis and had surgery to remove it from my organs. it can grow back, but the surgery was successful enough to allow me to have 2 children. Has she considered that option? I don't really understand why the other option for her is to remove her ovary? Is it very damaged?

Have her contact Dr. Bruce West immediately- there is another alternative.
Hurry- this can be fixed, and the medical doctor is missing the real cause and therefore the real handling.
She should believe the horror stories, but there is another way!

I have a friend that just went through this. She had surgery to remove a very large cyst on her ovary. Going into surgery she was told she may have to have the ovary removed and depending on what they found she may have to have a hysterectomy. Thankfully, they were able to save her ovary and were able to remove only the cyst. She has endometriosis as well. I'm not sure exactly why her dr wanted her to take the Lupron other than to keep the cyst from coming back and to keep the endometriosis under control??? I do remember she struggled with the decision to take the Lupron as well but did go through with it and got a shot for 6 months. Basically, she went through menapause type symptoms; no period for six months, severe hot flashes, irritability and mood swings, those type of symptoms. She just started back to a regular cycle recently and is doing fine as far as I know. Just thought I would offer what little I know about it. Good luck to your friend!!!

First of all, sorry about my english but my primary language is spanish. I tried Lupron before I got married, about 10 years ago, and I had a good experience with it. I had endomitriosis and my doctor gave me Lupron during five month (one shot monthly)and it was like being thru menopause. I have no menstrual periods during that time and I also had ocassional hot flashes. But endomitiosis goes under remission. A year later I got married and now I have two kids (8 & 6 years old), and during both of my c- section there was no evidence of endomitriosis. Also my last test showed no evidence of endomitriosis neither. in my opinion, even if she don't want to have kids in the near future, she should try Lupron for her own health. If got gave us ovaries they should stay with us as longer as possible.

I agree about the person who talked about the excess estrogen. I have done some research into it myself and found that it can cause a lot of symptoms and until you treat the cause, you will still have problems whether or not you try a "quick fix".
There are a number of holistic doctors in the area as well who can assist before trying something more extreme or trying one of the herbal remedies is a good thing to consider as well.

I've undergone treatment for Endometriosis using the Lupron injections. I learned a lot during my treatment. First, you can only undergo one round of Lupron (6 months of injections) ONCE per lifetime because of what it does to your bone density. Your friend will need to take vitamin D plus calcium daily for this reason alone! The drugs puts you into a state of menopause and depending on her age, I was in my 20's, it really sucks. You're not supposed to go into menopause until your body is physically ready! She'll have hot flashes, mood swings, be very emotional... the list goes on. What it comes down to is the Endo will come back! It may be years or just months, there's no prediction here. Some people have an easy time with it and it doesn't return but there is NO cure for Endo! There are many other options including no estrogen birth control pills, natural remedies, progesterone cremes... etc!

IMO, she shouldn't take the Lupron treatment until it's a last resort! Contact me if you need more info!
