Anyone Have Experience with Embryo Adoption?

I don't know anything about embryo adoption, but my husband and I were patients of Dr. Stewart for 5 years. He is an awesome doctor with a great bedside manner! He's a very funny guy! We went through 1 IVF cycle with Stewart and had 3 embryos implanted and have a beautiful 3 year-old girl from that. We did our next IVF cycle with Dr. Lyles and has 2 embroyos implanted and are expecting 1 baby in July from that. Good luck!! I think you will be very happy with Dr. Stewart...he's great!!

I do not know anything about Embryo Adoption, but Dr. Stewart helped me and my husband with some issues we were having getting pregnant and now I have a sweet little 8 month old girl. His office staff is wonderful. Good Luck!

Be prepared for twins. They are a possibility. We did invitro, implanted two embryos and got two babies. It's better than no babies ;)

I did nurse the twins and supplemented with formula. I lasted 7 months and it was very stressful and tiring. In retrospect it ruined some of the joy.When I later had my singleton, it was a wonderful experience. Just keep in mind that nursing doesn't always work even if you have been pregnant and that you are still a good mom no matter what.

I don't have any advice accept a good friend of mine did this, and she now has a beutiful 6 year old little girl. So it does work, and is possible! Good luck to you.

A good friend of mine had this done almost 3 years ago. They adopted 3 sibling embryos from St. Louis (where they had the precedure done). They have two beautiful little girls. Unfortunately one of the embryos died early in the pregnancy, but she delivered two healthy baby girls. She did have to go thru alot of hormone treatments and stuff beforehand to get her body ready, that was the down side. The upside is she is now a mom. If you really want to do this then go for it. It is great to experience the struggles of pregnancy with a result that is awesome. Oh, and they adopted 3 because she didn't want to go thru the beforehand stuff again, so they wanted to get it over with in one shabang. Good luck and God Bless.

We had really good friends that adopted embryos and now have almost 1 year old twins. They did use that clinic I do not know which doctor they had. They were chosen by a family through their social worker helping them at the time looking for regular adoption. I know they had a few hiccups in the legal aspects of the adoption although it all worked out. Hopefully as this becomes more common the legal aspects become easier!! Good luck in your decision!!

I don't know anything about embryo adoption but I can tell you that if you do it and you are successful, nursing should be something that you can do whether you have twins or not. I have known lots of people who have nursed twins. The cool thing about breastfeeding is that the more you nurse, the more milk you make. So, when you you have two nursing at the same time, your body will make enough for both. Yes, it is harder for some people then it is for others but it is very rare that a woman can't breastfeed after carrying a baby. If you could get your body to make some milk without being pregnant, then you will most likely not have any problems once your baby is born. Just don't expect it to all happen over night. Breastfeeding is a learned process for both you and the baby and it take a little work to get everything running smoothly in the beginning. Good luck with your decision and with the baby!

I didn't do embryo adoption, but was thinking of donating to snowflakes if we had extra embroys. We did 1 cycle of IVF and Dr. Stewart was my doctor. We now have beautiful 3.5 yr old b/g twins. Dr. Stewart is a great doctor. As was stated above, he has wonderful bedside manner and he cares so much about each individual. We implanted 3 embroys resulting, again, in twins. I was 34 at the time. Twins are an amazing blessing, but don't panick before you have to....LOL! Either way, it'll be ok. Feel free to PM me if you want to chat.

I just had twins in November! They were a result of IVF with my eggs though but the process you would go through would be similar. I can tell you that you will hear horror stories about twins and moms. One thing I can tell you is that we had tried for so long and so hard I wouldn't change anything for the world. Yes sometimes I wish I could divide myself in half but at those times I think about what we went through I get over everything. With fertility treatments you are at great risk of twins...but honestly I do not feel as if my twins were any harder than my singleton. I actually think my daughter prepared me for them and I was able to handle it better.

Yes you can breast fed with twins. I did for a short while but stopped on my own because it was really hard for me since I am not a very public person with it. I am also large in the chest area so it was really hard for me to get both on. I do however know a mom that nursed her twins all the way up to 1 year. It is possible. If i would have had more initative I probably would have..

Anyways my doctor was Dr. Starks. He was great, I would recommend him to anyone.

I just want to say that you amaze me! Good for you that you were able to nurse your adoptive daughter! That is truly incredible! I don't know anything about the embryo adoption but I think that it is GREAT! I just wanted to talk to you about your nursing fears. You CAN do anything you put your mind to! If you do have some nursing issues with one baby or twins you can always contact someone at Le Leche League or get a nursing consultant that can help you! You can do this! I have no experience with this but this is what I do know: Twins in any situation are difficult but whether you adopt into them or are handed them my nature, they are a blessing anyone can handle what is handed to them when willing to ask for help. My cousin had a child, remarried when her child was 16 and had twins (surprise!) when her child was 18. I also know this, North Kansas City has an excellent lactation program. If you are in another area and don't deliver there, they are still helpful, they don't care. They have a specialist there all the time and I called them often even though I did not deliver there. If they are not knowledgable about your situation, they will find out just to help you.Good luck
