Anyone Have Choroid Plexus Cysts

I went yesterday for my 20 week routine ultrasound and they found a few cysts at the base of the babies brain/spinal cord. I am wondering if anyone has had experience with this and how everything turned out. I am not finding out a lot of info on the net about it except what I already know. The doctor said he is concerned but that I shouldn't really worry about it unless my ultrasound in 4 weeks shows that they haven't shrunk. He said 90% of them shrink but I can't really find any info on the 10% that don't and what they can cause. Thanks for your help.

So What Happened?

I go next week for my detailed ultrasound to check for any other abnormalities. I am nervous but we have just been asking for God's grace and protection for our baby boy.

Hi S., I am new to mamasource for ft sill, (moving there in 10 weeks) but when I saw your post I had to respond. My little boy who had bilateral choroid plexus cysts in sleeping perfectly perfect in the next room :) He is almost 5 months old. Ironically a friend of mine whose son is 2 months older than mine had one too. Huge *HUGS*! Its very scary I know, but let me tell you what I know that helped ease it alittle. First, they aren't concerned about the cysts in and of themselves. You LO won't be harmed by them at all. The presence of CPCs has been linked to Trisomy 18, as a possible abnormality shown on US. The link is VERY THIN. Most babies with CPCs are FINE! Especially if there aren't any other abnormalities present in the baby. My doc sent me for a level 2 US to check specifically for abnormalities. Such as claped hands, renal stynosis, abnormal body proportions etc. If there is nothing else than the chances of anything being wrong are extremely minute. I remember crying out of relief after that US. Did you have the AFP done? I must say the fear didn't fully leave my head until he was here safe in my arms, but knowledge is power and the odds are VERY VERY VERY much in your favor. ;) Enough of the book, lol. If you have any questions feel free to ask.

S.,

I have never heard of choroid Plexus Cysts. I understand that the unknown in a pregnancy can be frightening. I would encourage you to get as informed as you can, (mayo clinic hotline would be able to help too) and stay calm through your pregnancy. Your baby is very sensative to your moods.
Plus, there is the power in prayer. I believe that your baby can be born normal with no cysts. I would begin to pray at where ever you are in your faith with God and ask him for a miracle in your baby's body. God can do it!! I will pray too. If you email me back I will send a prayer for you to pray over your body and baby. Modern medicine is awesome but not always the last answer! Blessings, A.

Hi S.,
I had an ultrasound today and my little boy has two CPCs. The doctor said not to worry at all and that he believes CPCs are not as rare as some may think. As ultrasound technology gets better we are aware of more things going on in the fetus. I will pray for you!
