Anyone Have an Xray During Pregnancy??

I'm 34 weeks pregnant, and about 1 1/2 weeks ago my foot started hurting. It's gotten worse over the last couple of days, and is now slightly discolored and a little swollen, and feels like I'm being stabbed in the top of my foot any time I put weight on it. Worst part is I have no clue what I did to it. So I made an appt. with my pcp on Wed. to see about it. I've always heard not to get xrays during pregnancy, but I just read something that said it's ok if it is needed. I don't know if my dr. will want to do an xray, but I don't know how I feel about it if he suggests it. Is it safe? Should I insist not to have an xray if the dr recommends it? Has anyone had to have an xray for any reason while pregnant? I don't want to put my baby at risk, but I also would like to know why my foot is hurting so bad (it's hard to chase a 2 y/o around when I can't walk!). Thanks so much!

What can I do next?

they will shield your belly w/lead apron-you should be fine.

My dentist double shielded me with the lead apron and me and my daughter were perfectly fine. I had to have a couple of XRays while I was pregnant because I kept breaking teeth, 4 ROOTCANALS!

I think you will be fine, your doctor would take every precaution I am sure.

I agree that your foot can hurt REALLY badly when pregnant and if you haven't done anything to hurt yourself, that is a possibility. However, I did have an Xray when I was pregnant with my first child because I fell and fractured my heel. They double shielded me AND it was on my foot far away from the belly (as the Xray tech said). I would mention it to my obgyn AND pcp AND the Xray tech.....I wouldn't take a chance and just hope someone reads their paperwork correctly.

If you didn't do anything to injure your foot, it could be that your plantar facia is enflamed. That happens to me every time i get pregnant. Your doctor will probably have you ice it and use some form of antiinflamitory. As for x-rays, I had one while pregnant with my triplets because they thought I had a pulmonary embolism or pnemonia. It can be ok if it is necessary.
