Anyone Given Birth at St. Francis in Shakopee?

I've heard the new birth center is pretty nice but I won't have a chance to tour it until the end of January. Has anyone given birth here recently? How was the experience. We were planning to have our baby at Methodist but Shakopee would be much closer. Any opinions would be appreciated.

I didn't give birth at St. francis in Shakopee but did at Methodist & chose to have my second child at a different hospital in large part because of the negative experience I had at Methodist. Not only were some of the nurses that cared for me during my labor and subsequent stay not necessarily the best at bedside manner, after you have your baby you are brought to a different room which is the size of a broom closet! Hardly enough room to turn around let lone have any visitors! I wouldn't go back there and if you have other options, take a closer look at them.

Congratulations and good luck!

I gave birth there 8 mo ago and was very happy with the treatment of all of the nurses, assistants and my OB. I had switched OBs during my pregnancy so that I could deliver there and I'm so glad that I did. If you have any specific questions, I'd be happy to answer them- just send a PM/email.

Oh, and congrats!

J.,
Although I can't vouch for the birth center, the hospital treated my mother WONDERFULLY during her recent hip replacement surgery. Her nurses were fantastic, we were able to visit any hour of the day, (in recovery) that we wanted to. The hospital didn't even really smell like a hospital, (big plus.)
I thought it was a GREAT hospital.

J.,
i gave birth at St. Francis last year probably before the new part, I am not really sure. At any rate the nurses are completely WONDERFUL!!! I had a great OB doc as well. I had my daughter at Abbott and had an okay experience. St. Francis was so great, I received really good care and felt very comfortable during my labor and delivering.
Good Luck to you and Congratulations!
