I have been really having a hard time finding curtains for my Toddlers bedroom. I have looked at alot of the department stores, and online and cannot find anything reasonable & that looks good. I am looking for a solid color, pink or lavender preferred, that have a lining. I cannot have long drapes on her window, so I'm looking for something thats at the most 65" long. (The length from rod to bottom of window is 55". I do not want a character theme, solid or stripes would be fine too. Her room is done in pastel colors, pinks, purples, yellows, greens. Any help you could provide would be appreciated!! Thanks!!

So What Happened?

Thank you all for your great responses! I am NOT a crafty, sewing type of person (although I wish I was :), I found exactly what I was looking for at "Land of Nod.com". They had some really cute curtains, a little pricey, but just what I wanted. I like the idea's for the roman blinds, and am thinking of triing my luck in another room with those.
Thanks Again Moms! :)

Would you consider having them made? I am in interior decorating and work with a couple of fabulous women who can whip up any kind of drape you need in short order. I've seen their work and used it in some of the homes I've done and I think they are great. I have some roman shades in my bedroom with lining and they are perfect. Please let me know if you'd like me to help you pull this together.

You can find the colors you are looking for at Walmart (which actually have nice curtains). Then they also have the thermal backing that can attach (simply) to the back to make them room-darkening. I will probably do the same with our second baby's room. Good luck!

I just bought drapes for my toddler at JCPenny. They have TONS to choose from ... and if you catch a sale ... the price is totally right. We got a solid rust/orange, with insulating lining and it also provides an excellent black-out during the day for naps. I HIGHLY recommend JCPenny. I also have a friend that found really cool fabric shower drapes from JCPenny that she is using as window drapes ... and they were half the cost as window drapes. The selection is key.

Hi D., have you thought about having the curtains custom made? I don't mean "custom" but having a seamstress make them for you. There are beautiful fabrics available and many seamstresses who make items other than clothing. (Myself included) Joann's has a business card folder at the cutting table where you can get names of people who sew in your area. Hope this helps, J.

You can try Target. They usually have a good collection of curtains in various sizes.

I have had curtains custom made for my home, have made some roman blinds myself and have ordered curtains from overstock.com. They all worked out for me. If you have the curtains made, you can use a thick material and you won't need a lining. The curtains in my daughter's room are a damask that is silver and quite thick with no lining. These were custom made. The curtains in baby #2's room (due in April) were also custom made. We did cotton shades behind linen curtains for that room. The curtains in our bedroom are velvet. They were mass-produced and came with a lining. I got them from overstock.com and love them as well. Finally, for our family room we had 4 windows and I went to an upholstery fabric store (Weaver's) and bought canvas fabric, which is pretty thick and made roman shades myself. Again, no lining since the fabric is so thick. I love them as well and it was really easy to make the roman shades.

So you have lots of options. If you don't want anything fancy, curtains are very easy to sew yourself or to get have sewn for you and the roman shades required very little sewing.

Good Luck,
D.

I have seen curtains but running a blank right now. But I did want to make a suggestions. i know how hard it is to find shorter length curtains. You can purchase them and then take them to any tailor/dry cleaners even and ask them to shorten them.

My friend just got some really colorful Indian Sari's (I don't know if I spelled that even remotely right) and swaged the across the window, the fabric swags across the window and down one side, not both. It looks great, the fabric is really beautiful and it was such a unique idea. I can find out from here where she got them. It was online. I think each piece of fabric was $15

If you can't find any in the stores suggested, try JoAnn Fabrics or any fabric store and find the material you like. Then ask around for somebody who sews on the side and they could make them for you easily. That's what I do--but my mom is a great seamstress and interior designer so I lucked out with finding the person. Many people around here sew on the side so I would think you could find somebody relatively inexpensive. Hope you can find what you want!

I've made my own curtains. If you have a sewing machine, it's not difficult and this way you get exactly what you want.

Walmart...online! They have a ton to choose from. Just got my daughter some pink sheers, and her windows are large and an odd size. Fit perfectly and versatile! Good luck~ They are resonable too!
