Red raspberry capsules are one thing that may help. Get them at your local health food store. Also, here's an article that will explain what was a really bizarre idea, but hey! it worked for me- however, the article uses a bit more "interaction" than I did. I just rubbed my palms over my shirt, over my breasts, while sitting on my birthing ball & prayed labor would start...about 45 min. later IT DID! Unfortunately, 45 hours later it was still going on!!!! I went all natural, too. Good Luck!!
Using Nipple Stimulation to Induce Labor
For centuries, women have been using nipple stimulation to induce labor. This stimulation brings about the release of oxytocin, which is the natural form of pitocin. Oxytocin causes contractions, which can lead into true labor. It’s important to note that this will only happen if your body is already close to labor. As with all natural labor induction techniques, don’t attempt this until you are over 40 weeks.
It is a practice often recommended by midwives when a woman is long past due or when labor is stalled. It causes the release of oxytocin, the same hormone that causes uterine contractions. This can be done manually or with an electric breast pump.
When this is performed, the uterus sometimes becomes hyperstimulated, meaning that it gets too little rest between contractions, so use caution and consult your practitioner first.
Here is a guide to help you understand the process:
Only massage one breast at a time.
Grasping the areola, rub in a circular motion until a contraction begins. It's important to mimic the suckling action of a baby.
Stop after the contraction begins.
Wait 15 minutes, then repeat.
Stop using nipple stimulation to induce labor if the contractions are 3 minutes apart or lasting 1 minute or longer.

okay- you are going to get tons of suggestions and maybe they will work maybe not, it's just so different for every baby and Momma! I have had three babies and three doctors due to college and then moving. All three of them said walking does NOTHING but make you tired and sore.
Eating eggplant sometimes helps due to some endorphins that are in it.
Another thing is to rub the skin between your thumb and index finger-it's a pressure point that stimulates something. I don't know if it's really true but I did do it the day I went into labor with my 2nd baby.
Anyway, I feel her pain tell her to hang in there-this baby will come out when it's good and ready! :)
Blessings!

Hi...
I had the same problem 2 years ago. I was 2 weeks overdue and not at all dilated.
I was miserable. Tried everything else others said here. Also, i moppped my kitchen and bathroom floor with my hands since I heard that squattinng helps, so thought why not do something worthwhile since after the baby you dont rewally get time for that extreme cleaning. Well did that in the evening and at 4am contracts started and had my baby 8 hours my baby arrived. I know it sounds silly, but it did work
Try it, got nothing to lose. Let me know if it works. :)

Taking castor oil worked both times for me. The first time I took it I was sick for about an hour (diarrea) but then woke up in the middle of the night with contractions 2-3 minutes apart. The second time I took it I didn't get sick but my labor was a little slower to start as well.
I have also had friends that did the nipple stimualtion or had sex and that worked.
Good Luck!

My doctor stripped my membranes on Thursday morning and by Friday at 12:00 a.m. I was in labor! The doctor inserts a couple of fingers and swoops them around the outside of the sac which pulls it from the utereus. This brings on contractions. I was at a 3 when the doctor performed the procedure. This worked for my friend too. However, it is uncomfortable and her doctor may not do it.

Do a lot of walking, get a foot massage and well, sex is also supposed to help.
Of course another week longer and she should be induced b/c the placenta begins to calcify and the nutrients and level of amniotic fluid goes down. Her baby may come out a little scaly from dry skin because of this.
Tell her good luck and get plenty of rest!!!!

FYI, my doc says it is not the sexual activity itself, but the prostaglandins(sp?)in the semen that help.
I was having sex every day trying to get my daughter to arrive, but when i told my doctor that she laughed and asked me if he was withdrawing. (We didn't know if it would harm the baby, so he was.) I left very frustrated and determined.
I literally went home, had sex, and would not rise out of bed for fear the precious prostaglandins would fall out. I fell asleep for two hours and i woke up in labor!!!!!
i hope this helps!!
