Any Playgroups or Good Day Care for Baby Under 1 Year Old in Beaverton OR?

I have a baby boy that's 8 and half months old. I work from home full time. My husband works part-time so we are at home most of the time. We used to have a baby sitter for my son but things didn't work out so now we take of Josh ourselves. Yet we can't afford to give him as much attention as he wants. Sometimes he gets so bored. So we thought it would be nice to find him some chance to social and play with other babies around the same age group. We wanted to find a good day care that has one or two days a week as an option so he can play with other kids. We checked out a couple but didn't quite like what we saw. So we thought it would be nice if we know other family with young babies who goes to a park or a playground somewhere nearby that we can join so the babies can hang out. Any information will be highly appreciated

It is always hard to find things to do that are cost effective,esp. in the winter. Here are a couple of ideas. If you don't know already, the Cedar Mill library has a great story time for the littlest ones - call them and learn about it because you will also meet many moms there and that can lead to playgroups, etc. Additionally, the Cedar Mill recreation center has great programs, and I know that Connestoga offers a baby art class for the littlest ones to which I took my daughter...and again met some great moms. If you do want to invest in some activities, I would highly recommend Gymboree at his age as well as Children Of The Sea swim school. My daughter did both starting around 7 months and thrived on the activity...as well as met more moms and kids. Finally, check out the website www.playgroupsusa.com. The goal of the site is to help moms set up local playgroups. I did it early on as well.

Have you looked into the Indoor Play Parks through the Tualatin Hills Parks and Rec.? Try different sites, some are busier and have older children than others. Many have an area for babies. Garden Home isn't very busy and has a small baby area for the little ones.

My daughter loved going to these and we often saw the same people frequently, so you could develop a playgroup as well.

Go to the Parks and Rec web site to find the times and days of the indoor play parks near you.

I have both of my kids in a Child Care center called Childrens Time Preschool. They take infants 6 weeks and up to school aged. My son started there when he was 12 weeks old and my daughter started when she was 14 weeks old. The teachers are amazing. Prices are reasonable, and my kids now ages 3 and 1.5 are both still there and very happy. They love their friends and teachers. Let me know if you want to discuss this more. I know how hard it is to find the right place to leave your child. I tried out 3 centers before finding this one!
