It could be something else.......is it normal for you to miss periods? If so, do you also have a hard time losing weight? I ask because along with fertility issues these are symptoms of PCOS (polycystic ovarian syndrome). This can develope at anytime and 10% of women have this and may not even know. I am one of those women, so if you have other symptoms, contact me and I can help you. I can point you in the right direction were doctors are concerned (I was misdiagnosed for 10 years!).

All the best to you!!

if you can't quit smoking, just cut down and stop worrying and stressing about it. if you want a cigarette, do something else for 15 minutes and then have a smoke. do that a few times a day, and you've cut out a couple cigarettes. if you start small, things are much easier to accomplish.

relax a bit, take your mind off your quitting and your trying for a baby, and it will all happen. first you must relax!!!!! when you relax, you let your guard down, and that's when the baby will come.

nothing is wrong with you, you are just trying to do too many life changing things at once and you are stressed. just stop, take a deep breath, and relax. think about today, not tomorrow.

seems like stress is keeping you from accoplishing your goal. so stop worring....get your self ok first then don't try to get preg just relax it will happen...as for smoking you have to be ready to quit and do it but don't get to stressed take it one day at a time.

I agree with the advice to try to take your mind off of this for now. Since you are engaged, perhaps consider moving that status to "married" so that you don't have to forstall plans so that you aren't pregnant at the wedding.

I'd also consider a progesterone supplment cream like Prolief from Arbonne.

Good luck!

Try accupuncture. I've heard it is very helpful.

Good luck.

hi A.,

i am not a smoker so i can not relate to smoking directly. i however am a person when i am stressed out , i tend to eat, neither of the two are good choices. but that being said, it took over two years to get pregnant with my first child. one year was just my husband and i trying the temperature method, and the fertility response sticks, and just the timing thing. that didn't work. the next year 1/2 we went to a fertility dr. who put me on clomid and then when that didn't work, i started doing self injections of fertility drugs. that worked and we now have a beautifull 20 month old son. during the two and 1/2 years of trying i gained approx 40 lbs because i got sooo depressed month after month of not being pregnant, i ate to comfort myself. i know that it was the wrong method, but that is what i did. then when i got pregnant i ate right and exercised and i gained only 20 lbs during my entire pregnancy. however, the 60 lbs total really was not healthy. anyway, i reccommend looking into a fertility doctor first and then when you start working with them and seeing how dedicated they are to help you get pregnany, you will then hopefully realize how much you want to get pregnant and that it is harmfull to smoke during pregnancy and you'll quit. You can definitly do it. it is all a mindset to focus on what you want and need to do. there is nothing wrong with you , it probably is that you are soo stressed out. i wish you the best of luck and keep us posted.

I found this book extremely helpful. It teaches you how not to get pregnant and also your best time to get pregnant.

Taking Charge of you Fertility by Tori Weschler

Also, I've never had to quit smoking, but I understand it could be quite difficult. Here's a little bit of information that I thought might be helpful. It's a different outlook - more positive than quit smoking or die message that is so common.

Well you will be more healthy if you stop smoking and I think you know that. You want to be healthy while pregnant. Plus you don't want your baby to smell smoke on mommy's clothing. My advice to to quite smoking, get a hobby then try to get preg.

The hobby will help you to think about something else and keep your mind on so you can quite and you wont be so depreased. Also, the best advice I can give you is to pray that God gives you the strenth to quite and then to help you to get preg. Good luck.

There can be other reasons that you aren't conceiving....stress (even the stress of trying to get pregnant can keep you from getting pregnant), celiac disease, girl issues....maybe talk to your ob/gyn or doctor to get tested for some of these things? I assume that they have done something as you were on meds...but doctors seem to push drugs instead of finding the true source of the problem. That has been my experience at least.

Good luck and I hope that you can quit smoking...for the sake of you, your to-be husband, your daughter, and the future baby. I have lived under the roof of a very heavy smoker and suffer now for it. But I truly understand how hard it is to quit...and I wish you the best of luck!! You can do it!

My mom just quit smoking after 32 years of it. It was really hard for her, but she did it with the help of Chantix, the new smoking pill. Maybe you can look into getting it to help you stop smoking and then hopefully you can get yourself calmed down and relax some so you can get that baby! Are you taking pre-natal vitamins? I know they tell you to do that, don't eat sushi, and don't drink alcohol while you are trying. Good luck, I'll be praying for you!
