Any Moms Who Love Winter the Best?
I love summer, the weather, less illness, etc, everything about it.
I feel like I am almost getting a phobia about winter so I wanted to hear from others with kids who really love winter. What do you love about winter? Answer should not include skiing or other sports :)

I love the winter! I can't stand the heat. Winter makes me feel alive. The only downside is that I can't enjoy the park with my son but that's when I just take him to the ymca or the library.

I love the quiet stillness of falling snow. I love the delighted look on my son's face when he plays in the snow. (I know this part is insane, but I love shoveling snow (not the wet heavy kind, but the light fluffy stuff.)) I love a roaring fire in the fireplace. I love comfy sweaters. I love cuddling under blankets with my kids and hubby. I love the winter holidays like Thanksgiving and Christmas where we get to see so many family members. I love the way the freshly fallen snow looks on the trees. And more than anything else, I love when the snow melts in the spring and we all come out of hibernation :)

I absolute love winter. I enjoy spring and fall as well, but I could skip summer all together and be happy. The way I see it, you can always put on more clothes and blankets when your cold, but you can't take off your skin when your hot. I also love nothing more than to curl up on the couch with a blanket, a good book, and a cup of coffee or hot chocolate. I love Christmas Carols, I love going to the Pumpkin Patch with my kids, I love Thanksgiving with Family, I love trimming the Tree and Shopping for and giving Gifts (I love receiving them too). I love all the baking around the holidays (my figure needs me to leave it alone. Ha! Ha!). I love the Christmas Parade and the Lighting of the State Capital. I Love that my kids are at School most of the day instead of at home fight all day. I start getting excited at the fall storm starts and the leaves began to start turning. I start singing Christmas Carols at the first of fall.
I absolutely dread summer, the heat, the kids fighting, the sinus headaches, allergies, the constant mess throughout my house caused by my middle child who is a literal tornado. Summer depresses me!!!

I love winter best of all the seasons. I live in a snowy state. We have to love it as it snows as early as late September and doesn't melt sometimes until as late as April.
It's pretty to look at. When snow and ice coat the trees and brush it looks magical as the sun shines through it. In the northern hemisphere (and where I live) the night sky will often be lit up by a fantastic natural light show (Aurora Borealis) that takes ones breath away.
If you have a fireplace or woodburning stove, it's cozy inside and smells incredible outside.
It's easier to get warmer than to cool off. (At least for me).
The clothes in the winter are more fun to wear, a greater variety, and winter outer-wear has come a long way. Where we live we like to haul out the Hudson Bay and Woolrich blankets, hand-knit wool sweaters, mittens, canadian leather boots, velvet dresses, satin bows, dark rich jewel colors are worn more, or icy pastels that match the landscape.
Outdoor concerts, carriage rides, outdoor skating and our annual Winter Carnival complete with life-sized Ice Castle, ice sculptures, and parade are a blast.
People love to come to our state to celebrate Christmas, because it actually looks like Christmas/North Pole here.
We have several "Snow Days" because we get big storms here...so the kids love winter on those days. Even though schools are closed, businesses are opened late, and freeways are slow with plows, and we're getting pounded by several feet of snow and the roads are shut down, it doesn't keep people and especially kids from making it a fun event complete with sledding, make a snowman, or snowangel.
Coffee and tea shops are king here. There are enough shops for every man, woman and child to have their hearts content of scones, Blondies, hot cocoa, Chai, latte's and tea.
If you like to knit, crochet, bake, can or any other type of crafting that requires using wool, a hot oven, or boiling kettles on the stove top, it is fun to do during the winter months than when it's hot and sticky.
You don't have to do lawn maintenance in the winter.
You can use the snowblower. And where I live, a plow to clear your driveway. That's fun!
In certain communities (smaller towns and suburbs) you don't use a car in the winter...you use a sled (snowmobile). No one gets mad if you drive throught their yard. Homemade trails are everywhere. It's a hoot seeing the many styles of snowmobiles, and it looks cool at night when you drive along the roads where people have made snowmobile paths. Their lights shining through wooded areas and brush looks neat and casts weird shadows.
The men look hot chopping fire wood in their flannels, after 5 shadow, and their Rockies (waterproof winter sport boots). They're too tough to wear a parka...and it looks oh so good!
No mosquitos or yucky bugs. The birds look fluffy and the furry animals look really cute in their winter coats.
The atmosphere and outside air is cleaner during the cold months. Less smog, less pollutants, and no allergens like pollen or mold (unless you have it in your house).
Most of the fun celebrations and holidays celebrated in the US are during the winter months (at least where I live it's snowing) Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Years, Valentine's, St. Pat's)
Budget aside...shopping in the Winter is more fun because that's when stores stock up on things they normally do not carry in preparation for the holiday season. So more fun gadgets, foods, clothes, etc.
Getting sick in the winter is better than summer. Having chicken noodle soup, a humidifer going, and snuggling in a blanket is much better when it's nasty cold out, then when the sun is shining and you'd rather be playing at a park.
When it's not nasty cold, but just snowy, it's glorious playing in the snow. Making snowmen, sledding, skating, making angels, building forts, snow shoeing, skiing, hiking, camping (yes we camp in the winter here) ice fishing (we even sleep on the lake in a fish house!!) hunting, snowboarding, hockey are all a major part of why we love winter here. (I know you said not mention these things, but sorry, where we live snow and snowy activities are actually part of the culture here!! We can't exclude it!:)
You're aren't cool here at all if you can't play a mean game of broom ball on a frozen but bumpy lake, or sit on a 10 gallon pail for 10 hours with no shelter while catching a Northern (a type of fish) on Mil Lacs (a mondo huge lake in a resort area here).
Winter sun burns from the snow aren't as bad as the ones you get in the summer.
You learn which lotions are the best on the market...and you appreciate a good hot bath more than anyone. I highly recommend Nutrogena, Eucerine and Aquafir and Vaseline is the bomb on crusty feet and chapped hands...if you're wondering. Love Burt's bee's, Carmex and Chap Stick.
Crockpots and casseroles, and rich, yummy comfort foods are just made for the winter.
Nothing beats barbequing in the winter.
Very few bad hair days in the winter, since the air is dry, and you can knock the snow out of your hair before it melts.
Winter nights are very romantic as it is very necessary to cuddle to stay warm...especially in front a nice fire.
No two snowflakes are alike, and you get to see them, experience them, and love each everyone of them.

Well, I don't know if sledding counts as a sport, but I love doing that with the kids. Same thing with just a low key ice skate. We also love playing in the snow - snowball fights, snow angels, etc.
A favorite breakfast "treat" in our house is a mug full of snow with maple syrup drizzled on top.
I love that on a winter weekend it's totally acceptable to stay in your pjs all day.
I love that because it's darker longer in the morning the kids might sleep later than they do in the summer : )
I also love the quiet that comes with a blanket of snow.
I do totally understand that cooped up feeling that comes with winter. I had someone say once that there's no such thing as bad weather, only bad clothing. I'm not sure I totally buy that, but with good winter gear, I find it just as nice to be out in the winter as the summer.
have fun!

I've always lived in a four-season climate, and I LOVE all four seasons. I've discovered that if I looked for the good stuff about the time of year instead of the bad stuff, I always did find good stuff.
BTW, I lived in upstate New York until I was twelve, and I remember those winters - they were almost as beautiful as Colorado ones! (Almost.)
In winter the snow is lovely - especially from inside looking out. I have to be more careful when I drive, but when I'm at home I can't stop looking at the snow falling. I run outdoors with my camera and try to take pictures of snowflakes.
Even the sunlight looks different in winter than in summer, at least where I live. A snowy landscape against a blue sky is breathtaking. The plants that stay green in winter (like holly) are beautiful. A snowstorm is amazing, too. The air is bracing and when I step outside (properly bundled up), I'm thankful that I can breathe it in.
Winter clothing is different in color and texture - ever notice that on other people? It's not just the absence of shorts and halter tops. The heavier fabrics give a whole different ambiance wherever there are people around.
Around here, the birds and squirrels aren't phobic about winter. They're hopping and racing and seeing who can get to the food first.
My dog goes crazy, running around in the snow in the back yard and trying to tunnel in it.
Winter sunsets are early, but they're often very beautiful, and then when it's dark I can see lights from my neighbors' houses and they look magical.
My children always LOVED winter when they were kids. They had a great time outdoors - and then indoors, too, when they had to get warm. My grandchildren feel the same way. My son's house has a small sort of hill in the back, and he ices that hill so his girls and their friends can slide down on their saucers. They have lots of good family time building snowmen, shoveling, and doing other things together. When they come inside, I think the cold and snow must be good for them, because they're happy to settle down and play good-naturedly for a while.
On a comparative scale, winter brings cleaning up after snow, but most of the bugs have moved south. There may be storms, but one has to prepare for hurricanes and tornados, too. You have to pull out sweaters, but there are beautiful sweaters just waiting to be worn. Winter colds are nasty, but so are summer colds. Driving can be tricky, but .... well, um, you learn how to do it.
Enough rhapsodizing... today at my house it's still in the eighties! I can't start making hot chocolate yet!

I despise winter, but my kids love it even more than summer! So, I have to find things to like about it. One thing I love about winter is that pulling the kids on a sled is GREAT exercise. So is shoveling snow! And huge snowdrifts transform our big yard into a "moonscape" that is ripe for exploring.
I don't know if this really helps. I hate winter. I was born in Minnesota, moved to Hawaii and then back to Minnesota. Every winter I think of the beautiful Hawaiian valley that I lived in and think......WHAT IS THE MATTER WITH ME!? Why did I move back to the frozen tundra? Haha!
But, while I am not in love with winter.....I am trying to make friends with it! :)

I hate summer. I hate being hot and sweaty. I also hate feeling so warn out by the heat, that I don't get stuff accomplished. Here are the things I love about fall/winter. I love the changing colors (fall colors are pretty to me), I love carving pumpkins, I love shopping for cute sweaters, I love all of the fall/winter candles you can buy and the smells...mmmmm. I love to cook and bake (in the summer you heat up your house even more, and who wants a hot hearty meal in the summer time), this winter I am going to introduce cooking/baking to my toddler.
Even though I do not ski, I do love to take snow trips. I love the smell of the rain. I love to see a beautiful blanket of freshly fallen snow. I love to see my baby in feety pajamas. I like building a fire in our fire place. I like the idea that the two warmest family holidays are both in the winter (Thanksgiving and Christmas). I also like that one of teh fun holidays, Halloween, is in these seasons as well. I can't wait to see my baby's reaction on christmas day. Egg nog, making ginger bread houses, hand print turkey's, icing cookies, making stew.
Fresh, home made bread and the smell fills your house. Freshly brewed hot coffee (I don't drink hot coffee in the summer). I like seeing an overcast sky and then the sun suddenly peaks through and how it makes the ground sparkle from all the rain drops. I like to hear the howl of the wind, and cuddling up with my family. Buying a new pair of warm, cozy slippers.
I am looking forward this year to making a snowman with my baby.
Hot oatmel/cereal for breakfasts (I don't eat this in the summer). I like seeing all of the Santa Clauses outside the stores, shopping for my baby's christmas dress. I love the fact that I can accomplish more because I am not sweating to death. I save a ton on my electricity bill because we aren't running the air, and we don't turn the heat up high. Flannel pajamas, and robes.
Can you tell I am ready for fall/winter? Thats just the things off the top of my head. I LOVE winter. What depressed me last year is it was my first Christmas in southern california, and while it was chilly at night, during the day it was 72 and sunny outside. It just didn't feel like Christmas. Last year my baby was too young to enjoy a lot of things, so this year it's a big "to-do" for me. =)

I LOve love love fall and winter. Most of our great family traditions happen in the fall and winter months. Family traditions can be anything you make them, from popcorn and movie night, to pizza night...they don't have to involve a lot of money, for example a pizza night where everyone helps "Make" the pizzas is a lot more fun then ordering pizzas. Making cookies together is fun. Going on nature walks when the fall leaves are out is fun, driving around to see Christmas lights, caroling...potlucks! Playing cards or board games, having company over for coffee and dessert or even apple cider...so many fun things to do during the cooler months...also you could start making ornaments as gifts or just a special ornament each year for your own tree, or making gifts to give to the elderly like wreathes or cookies in a jar...adopt a grandparent at a retirement community...
