Any Ideas? - Gray,ME

We recently found out that we are expecting child number 2! While we are both very excited, we are naturally worried about our finances. We are in the process of planning to build out home this spring and my new contract won't let me use sick time for my maternity leave after my FMLA 6 weeks. I teach and LOVE it, so returning to work is not a problem for me, I have a great schedule and the woman who watches my son now is my mom's best friend and the only reason I feel I can work! I was wondering if anyone had any work from home information or suggestions so we can supplement our income. I am leaning towards taking 6 weeks unpaid, and could use some extra cash to keep things going. Any suggestions would be great!

Hope you already found something, but just in case, I thought I would respond. I am a SAHM of 4 very active boys from 5-10. I have tried many at home businesses to get extra income, but have stopped them because it took too long to see any profit. I have to say, that I just started lia sophia jewelry a few months ago, and have already earned a good amount of profit and considering women love stylish quality jewelry and the incredible hostess benefits that the company provides, it isn't hard to get parties. Maybe it is something you might enjoy trying. If you want more info, just email me and I am happy to share. K. ____@____.com wishes!

Hi K., I stumbled across this site - www.wahm.com (work at home moms) and it has a great forum - http://www.wahm.com/forum/default.asp

There are categories for crafting moms, those who do data entry, proof reading, direct sales, and telephone work. Check out the opportunities posted there. The site has many seasoned moms that frequent the forum who are honest about what potential the opportunities out there have.

Good luck!

Hi K.
I have a business that you may be interested in. I would love the opportunity to chat with you to see if this would be a good match for the 2 of us. What I do is part time and the hours are your own. You make your own schedule so it is easily weaved into what you are currently doing. I know that is important where you and your husband work full time and you want to see your babies at night. You won't be out having home parties every night of the week. I can show you how to make commission on all those diapers and cans of formula you are going to be buying :)
If you would like more information please let me know. You can call me at ###-###-####
Hope to talk to you soon.

You might want to look into Medical Transcription. I am almost through my training course (through Careerstep)and am looking forward to working from home soon! I have 2 small children, but also look forward to being here for them when they are school-aged too. The class is a bit of an investment, but well worth it (at least that what everyone has told me!) I hope you find a solution that works for you :)

Hi K.!
If you are still looking for something to supplement your income Avon is a great way to do that. I started selling Avon a little over a year ago when I was getting divorced. I do pretty well with it. Because of name recognition it almost sells itself. I started selling to people I know and they passed it on to other people. If you are interested let me know...you can get started with just $10. My email address is ____@____.com
Good luck!

K.,
There are a couple of direct sales companies that you could look into and I'm sure as a teacher you've heard of. One is Discovery Toys, and the other is Usborne Books At Home. I don't know a lot about Discovery Toys, but with Usborne Books you can get a website and host eshows, or do book fairs with the school. You can also do fundraisers. And with your connections, you may have an automatic customer base (and the books are beautiful!). As with most MLM's, there's an initial startup fee, and it takes some time. But with work and dedication it can happen. You can have a party yourself to earn your kit as well. Let me know if you're interested in them, and I can hook you up with more info. You could also check out www.workathomefair.com for more information on a variety of WAHM opportunities, including many MLM's. You could also, if you're computer savvy, set up a website and go with affiliate programs. I have an affiliation with Amazon and Natural Family Boutique. it's pretty easy, really, but the income from it is pretty small. Good luck!

Hi K.,
I was just about to ask the same question this morning of everybody when I saw yours. I am 39 years old and baby #2 is due in Sept. My first is 15 years old! Yes, unexpected, but very excited. I work at a spa doing hair for bridal parties and manicures and pedicures. I don't know how long I'll be able to do it, especially pedicures. I make the majority of the money in my family so I'm a little worried also. I want something to do for a little extra income, but without any networking or selling. That's all I seem to have come across so far. I'll keep checking back to see if you get any good ideas. Good luck, S.

I don't consider myself a frugle person, however when it came to saving money when I was going to have my first and only child I did alot of yard saling, went to good will, and accepted tons of used items from friends and family. Yes, it's nice to have all brand new things for your little one, but in reality will that child care whether the sleeper its wearing is brand new compared to used? And you know how fast little ones go through cloths, toys, etc. Just a suggestion! :)

Hi,

I am a mother of 2 and spent several years working in finance. About 1 year ago, I began my plan to transition out of my management position into a self employment situation. I looked through many options and found a great deal of them were driven by quotas and levels of achievement. Watkins was the only one I found that is simple a membership. It only cost me 39$ to start up and I have pursued my customers through catalog placement and internet. I am not one to do the parties. It was a slow grower but, a year later I have a steady customer base and have even involved my sons step group. You can sign up non-profits like that for free for the first year. Well in short, Watkins has been a no pressure situation -- which is great! I did not have to attend any meetings if I did not want to or anything like that. Its worth looking into. If you have any questions, feel free to call me at ###-###-#### and I will fill you in. The thing that really got me was it only cost me 39$ to sample this and if I did not like it I was not in the hole. I also did not have to stock any products or create a space in my home. I sit down at my dining room table to work. The best advertisement for me was taking advantage of anytime I had to give a gift -- I gave Watkins at my discount of course. If there was an event to bring food -- I made a Watkins recipe and used Watkins ingrediants. That really works well -- as I have noticed the recipes can be recreated but, they do not taste the same without the Watkins food items. Well I rambled on long enough. If you would like to know more, email me back or feel free to call.

Hi K.,

I can certainly relate to your situation. In fact, we have lots in common. While I'm not 30, I am in my 30s, we have a 14 month old little girl, I have been married for 5 years, our second child is due in September!!!! And as you, I'm concerned about our finances.

I currently have my own part-time business that I run along side my current job as a Revenue Coordinator at a non-profit agency. This business allows moms in our situation to create our own schedule while making additional income. If this is something you'd like to talk about furhter, feel free to contact me on my cell phone ###-###-####.

Good luck with the pregancy and I'd love to keep in touch during our journey.

Hi there,
My daughter is 21mos old and I stayed home for the first year after she was born. I found this great company called LIVEOPS which is an answering service for "as seen on t.v. commercials". Every call is scripted so you know exactly what to say, and after you say your "script" you enter the customers information and then you move on to the next call. They pay .25 cents per talk minute, you only get paid when taking calls, but they are legit, I got paid every two weeks and every check cleared. The requirements for the job is high speed internet like dsl or broadband, a printer and a land line phone w/ a headset, it just can't be a wireless phone. I personally liked it because you set your own hours and you can work 24 hrs a day. If you'd like to know more you can email me. ____@____.com Please just put "Live-Ops" into the message field so I dont spam you.
If you would like to check out there website this is the link
http://www.liveops.com/
Also just so you are aware they do charge an inital fee of $30.00 for a backround check, but they are legit, I worked for them for a long time.

Best of luck to you.......... R.
