Hi! I'm taking all three of my little ones to a new dentist in Tulsa later this week. I'll let you know how it goes, the name and location of the place, etc., after we're done there. Everything I've read says that you should start taking kiddos to the dentist after their first teeth come in and at about age 1 so that they are familiar with the dentist office and remember it as a pleasant experience (the dentist usually just "counts" their teeth and other goofy stuff at that age). However, in spite of all the information I've filled my head with about what you're supposed to do and at what age, my youngest is three and has never been to the dentist at all and the older two have only been once.:) I finally buckled down and made the appointments though and thankfully got them all scheduled one right after the other. Tell you about it soon!

Childrens Dental Health Center on 61st right by Mingo has been great for my children!! I was a little concerned on my first when I saw the children going back with out an adult but little girl was only 2 and I was aloud to go back on each of my childrens first visits. there aren't any areas where an adult would be alone with a child - it is all open!! They typically like the children to go back by themselves and the first time I was sure my daughter would scream but instead she got up, walked toward the nurse, turned around and grinned HUGE and walked right on into the back! When my son got scared they let me go right back with him! They always discussed findings - good or bad - with the parents after the exam! They also take Soonercare if that is an issue - I know several people I've talked to have questioned that! Their # is ###-###-####

We were referred by other parents at the dance school to Thomas Gilbert. (around 71st and Mingo) We haven't yet been treated, but did go in and visit this pediatric dentist office:

They were great. We had an appointment set up, but our "primary care dentist" hadn't sent over the referral. (he actually told me he would, then refused to do it, saying he would take my 4 year old as a patient... NOT happy with him - think he just didn't want to lose out on the money from having her as a patient) ANYWAY... the staff was really great about the whole thing and even went ahead and gave our daughter the "gifts" that they give after a visit (goody bag with toothbrush, floss, those dye things to show where you're not brushing well, a toothbrush cover, etc) We're going back soon. I'll let you know how it goes!

Sorry I can't recommend one, but I suggest you avoid Shortline Dental!
