We pretty much always go with TXU since it is the most widely known. Does anyone have any experiences with other electric companies?, and can reccomend something?

What can I do next?

I have Stream Energy and I am really happy with the rate, billing, and customer service. They are easy to deal with. Another one that is giving really low rates right now is Reliant. They were so high and lost all thier business, so, now they are trying to win people back with low rates.

It all comes down to how many cents per kilowatt they are going to charge you. One company may charge 12 cents and another 11 cents. The 11 cents is going to be drastically cheaper. The offer is usually connected to a fixed contract. So, they might offer 11c if you sign a 2yr contract or 12 c for a 1 yr contract. You can also choose green energy for a little higher premium. Here is a link that lets you compare rates and explains alot of what you need to know.

We have used Reliant for a long time and have been very happy with them. Rates have been good also. I like the fact I get an actual person on the phone whenever I call.

Go to the website www.powertochoose.org They have a rundown of most all companies and you can compare.

We switched from TXU to Reliant years ago and were very loyal to Reliant and had great rates and services. About 2 yr ago, however, after being a Reliant customer about 12 yrs, they did not offer pricing as well as what we found with Champion and would not match the price.

So, 2 yrs ago, we signed with Champion and I love it. No issues. I've only called customer service once and that was when we were signing on for another yearly contract. Very nice reps. We are on a fixed rate of 9.6.

Explore all options and read the contracts carefully. I steer away from variable rates because you don't know when any company will raise you. I also steered from Stream which is a MLM company. I learned this when I had a customer trying to sign me up on his team.

Good luck with your choice!
