Any College Counselors Need Advise
hi, i have a question. I would like to go back to school but don't know what i need. I plan on applying for financial aid or student loans. I know you have to be a resident but don't know how many years must you be a resident before you pay less than those who aren't. Do i need a driver license or will an I.D. work when i register and apply for FA? any advise? thank you

Contact the Admissions Office of whatever institution you're interested in attending. They can answer all those questions and help you with gaining admission and financial aide. Start with one institution to learn the basics and then ask at others if you might want to attend a different one.

The earlier in the year (January 1st) that you apply to FASFA, the more chance you have of getting any money. Each year there is a certain amount of money, so they start giving it to the people who have been "in line" first. It's late to be in that "queue" now, but you would probably qualifiy for loans.
Think hard before you take out a non-government loan. Private loans have different rules, possibly higher interest, and if you were to die before it's paid off, your family would still have to pay it. Government loans are forgiven in the event of your death.
I believe you will need something akin to a driver's license. If you don't drive, you can get an ID that the DMV issues. This ID shows that you have been vetted to be who you say you are. A passport should do the same thing.
Good luck,
D.

Go to the school's website and click on Admissions. You should be able to find the answers there as well as an online application.

A phone call to wherever you want to go to school will really clear this up!
