Another Lunch Box Question--imitation Crab
So, as you can see my son likes weird things in his lunch box. Today's choice for tomorrow is imitation crab sticks. Do you think those will last okay on an ice pack for 4 hours that they must sit in the lunch box?
Thanks Mamas, I'm paranoid about food spoilage, hence all the questions. :-)
So What Happened?™
HaHa! Yep, Jo W. my boy LOVES sea food. For a picky eater, he likes strange things!!
Thanks to both replies to put my mind at ease! :-)

Your boy just loves the sea food doesn't he! :p
Imitation crab is white fish so it will keep the same as the tuna. If these are the cooked variety even better!

Yes, with a cold pack, it should be fine.
Or put in 2 cold packs if you feel like it.
I am talking about, not those small 2" kiddie type cold packs, but the real blue-ice type cold packs. That are for even adult lunch boxes.

Yes, put the blue ice on top of it or put it in a frozen box. I think it is great that he likes these different things!

Yes - you could also throw them in the freezer for an hour or two in the morning ( like as soon as you get up) just to make them extra cold, then pack in lunchbox.

I pack a lunch for myself every day (during the summer, our school district offers free lunch for all children 1-18, so I take my girls and bring my own lunch...they get school lunch during the summer, and stay at home during the school year! Hee hee...) :)
Anyhow, I always make it in the morning to get it out of the way, and then throw it in a lunch bag/cooler thingie with one ice pack. It often sits four hours, and sometimes and hour of that is in the car, where it's hot. My lunch is always cold.
Also, sometimes I don't unpack it right away, and bring home my daughter's uneaten cheese sticks...they're always cold HOURS later, and that's with an ice pack that's essentially been out all day.
In other words...yes, you're okay. :)
