Hi everyone,
We are going to Florida next summer and I need to start working on it. We are going to do a pet friendly condo directly on the beach. I need to know where to go. I can find the condo through vbro once I know which city to begin my hunt in. We want to be on the beach and enjoy the beauty of it all but we also want to do other things other than just the beach. Which city/beach area has fun family things to do too? I just need some ideas on where to start and I can look up things based on your leads. Any help would be appreciated like the kinds of things you did other than relax at the beach. Oh, kids will be 1 and 6 years old.

Last year we went to Destin and stayed at the Hilton Sandestin resort on the beach. It was a hotel but there were a lot of condos in that general area. We had a great time and loved it. We didn't do a lot in the city but the beach part of it was great.

Just a little FYI - Okaloosa County (where Destin is) prohibits dogs on the beach. If you are going to a pet friendly condo I'm guessing you are taking a pet & would like to be able to take said pet onto the beach. Make sure it's allowed where you want to vacation. Have a wonderful trip!

We go to Sandestin every spring break and stay at the Hilton resort. We love that place, beach is beautiful. We fly to Ft Walton and drive about an hour.

We just returned from Marco Island Hilton resort thus past weekend and loved it. We will certainly go back!! We flew to Ft Lauderdale and drove. You can fly to Ft Myers/Naples and it's closer. Loved it!!

Beautiful beach, lots of shells.

Enjoy!

East Coast:
- Fort Lauderdale, more specifically Lauderdale-by-the-Sea (quieter and more family-friendly, but still cloes to the attractions)
- Daytona/ Ormond Beach (easy drive to the parks and to St. Augustine)
- St. Augustine... beautiful!!! This was our go-to vacation spot growing up (in FL) b/c you could stay at the beach, visit the Spanish settlements, tour the town, Wax museum- tons to do and all close-by!

West Coast:
- Destin (FL residents would disagree, myself included, but tourists love it)
- Sanibel Island (pricey, but pretty beaches)
- St. Petersburg

New Smyrna Beach is very family friendly. It's just south of Daytona and within a easy driving distance to Orlando or Cocoa Beach. There are several affordable, quick and easy 1/2 day trips nearby.
