Me and my husband are wanting to start trying to have another baby in November and I have the option to go with my husband insurance Lovelace but I don't know anyone who's had a positive experience with Lovelace can anyone give me a good OBGYN? Or should I stay with Presbyterian I had a good experience but was not happy with the fact the my OBGYN did not deliver my son? Any advice will help a great deal thank you.

What can I do next?

I too have delivered at pres. not once but twice. Most recently in September 06. Both times were very pleasant however you are right... neither times did MY OB doctor deliver the baby! But Id have to say that if I were to get pregnant again I definitely would NOT change to Lovelace, and not because I have anything against Lovelace, but only because my experience with all of the OBGYN doctors at pres. has been OUTSTANDING!!!! My OB doctor with my 4 yr old was Dr. Hume, LOVED HER! but she stopped practicing OB, so I switched to Dr. Caridi for my 2nd pregnancy and he too was great! And as far as I know if you choose a doctor, no matter what hospital, majority of the time they wont be the one actually delivering. However if you want more of an intimate/close relationship with you "doctor" I recommend a midwife or a Douala. Hope that helps (even a little).

P.S. not sure if the "new" labor and delivery department was finished when you had your son, but now it is awesome! and the nurses are the greatest!!!!!!!!

M.,
If I were in your situation I would DEFINATELY stay with Pres. I'm with Pres. now and I love where I got my prenatal care and where I get my annual check ups. I had a VERY high risk pregnancy and these people were compationate as well as professional. You can go to the Women's Specialist of New Mexico. Thier number is ###-###-####. They have two or three places that you can go to attend appointments. They are based out of Pres. hospital though, I think. I saw a woman named Michele Pino CNM. She is a nurse midwife and a very nice woman. Also If you end up like me with a risky pregnancy they also have great doctors too. If you don't want to see Michele there are a lot of other great people who work there. I saw a few people in the practice and all were really great. GOOD LUCK!!

If you are planning on birthing in a hospital, you will likely have to accept the fact that you won't be gauranteed to have your OB or midwife attending your birth. It comes down to whoever is on rotation. This is a huge factor in why I chose homebirth. Since you can't be sure who will actually attend your birth, you might do best to see what facility you feel most comfortable with and what others say about their experiences.
