American Girl Cafe in Chicago

I was thinking of making dinner reservations at the American Girl cafe for my daughter (almost 4) and me while we're in Chicago for the weekend. My husband and son will be at a game, so I wanted to do something special with my daughter. I was just wondering what to expect while there. Is it just dinner, or is there more involved? I was planning on bringing her doll with us. Thanks!

What can I do next?

She will have a blast! They have highchairs for the dolls and the atmosphere is alot of fun.

I went there 2 years ago and had a wonderful time with my daughter and friend and her daughters. I highly recommend that you bring the dolls. They have booster seats for the dolls that attach to the table. They also have a tea that we attended. I recommend also that you request a window seat just to look out at the street. In the low level, they have a doll hospital and hair salon in case you need new hair or just a new hairdo.

Hi J.,
Your daughter will love it. My daughter is 5 and we just went in June for the first time. We went for lunch and it was so fun! I thought it was a bit expensive, but how many times do you get to do this. They did not do anything that different. They give you a chair that hooks to the table for her doll to sit in, and bring her a tea cup and saucer. You do get quite a bit of food, since you get sweet rolls to start, then appetizers, then your main dish, then dessert and drinks. You should have fun, take lots of pictures. The store alone is very over whelming, since it is so big and so much to see.
Have a great time and bring lots of money!!!

I was just at the new Chicago store a few weeks ago. It is amazing! My daughter is only 22 mos and wasn't with me... but there is a cafe and you do bring the doll (they have special seats for them). There is also a place where you can get the dolls hair done (how cute, right?). It is just an amazing place. There are events too. Check out the website before you go!
