Am I Pregnant
Ok so I took a test by first response and the negative line was dark and clear and the positive line was there but very faint. So I went and bought another test by clear blue easy and it was digital and it literally said the word PREGNANT so I do believe I am pregnant because of that since I have been told that you cannot get a false positive only a false negative. Anyways here is where I get confused, my husband this morning after the first test with the faint line knew that I wanted to confirm with a second test, so he did not know that I went out and bought another one and he had brought me home one on his lunch break. It was an EPT one and so I took it just for fun, knowing that I was pregnant from the clear blue easy test. But to my surprise the EPT test negative. What do you all think about this?

A lot of info can be found the hpt detect hcg(preg horma) at differnt levels so one might be 25imu another at 100imu so it just depends on the test a line is a line no matter how faint and that is a positive!!! Hi Aleisha!
I would call your doctor and explain what happened to them and ask that you come in for a blood test to confirm your pregnancy! I have learned that even if you can barley see the line it means it is a positive! I took a test last time and the line was really faint and I threw it away thinking I wasn't pregnant when in fact I was! I would say you are pretty safe to think that you are especially if the digital one said pregnant! Good luck and let us know! :)

Hello Aleisha,
Sounds like a trip to the doctor's is needed. Let him do a pregnancy test using blood, then you'll know for sure, one way or the other.
Good Luck

Aleisha,
I would suggest going to the doctor to confirm. If you took the other two tests and they were positive and done in the morning, I would say you have a good chance of being pregnant. If you took an EPT test in the afternoon, you may not have had enough HCG in your urine (in the early stages of pregnancy) to register a positive result. I, for one, never had any luck with EPT.
But, make an appt and let the doctor confirm. And, God Bless and good luck! That's so exciting!

I had a similar situation. Are you really early on in your prgnancy? If so, you are probably too early for the EPT test to pick it up. If I had to guess, I would say you are probably pregnant. But to make sure, wait a couple of days and take another one! Good luck!

To end any doubts, I would call your Drs office and request a "nurse" visit for a blood test or a urine test. I did when I didn't know for sure, the nurse visit was free for the urine test and quick.
If you still aren't sure, then make an appointment for a blood test.
It could be that you are not far enough along to tell by urine. But blood test NEVER are wrong.
Good luck.

you can get a false positive result on pregnancy tests don't let anyone tell you otherwise. i had it happen to me. the only way if you got 2 pos. and 1 neg. is to go to the doctor and have them do a blood test. it is posible that u got a neg. on the ept. and are in fact pregnant. also though, if u want another baby bad enough your body can also trick itself into thinking it is pregnant. when i had my false pos. i went to the doctor to have blood work done to be sure to check the hcg level in my blood and there wasn't any. they also did a regular pregnancy test and it came back neg. if you are pregnant congrats! if not it will happen again.
I am 31, married for almost 12 yrs. and have 3 beautiful boys ages 10,7 and 4.

The pregnancy tests should be taken with the very first urine in the morning (it's the most concentrated). Your test at lunch could have been one of those brands that don't detect as early, or if you're very early along, the urine may not have been concentrated enough. With both of my pregnancies, my doctor took the home pregnancy test as positive and never bothered with a blood test.
Congratulations!

ALeisha- I had the same problem when I found out I was pregnant with my now 8 month old son. Back and forth I went with some tests showing only a faint (barely barely there) pink line. Simple solution: Go to your doctor's office for a blood test to determine if you are pregnant. It is 100% accurate! Results in about 5 hours. No guessing after that one!

Even if the line is faint....it's still there. If you want to be sure call your doctor (your family doctor can do it it doesn't have to be your OB) and you can get a urine test and if that is inconclusive they can get you a blood test. I'd say you are so if you're doing anything unhealthy or still using BC...STOP! COngrats!!

I researched a lot of tests and some are more sensitive then others. I would think you a re pregnant since two tests confirmed it and one was negative. But definetely go to the doctor and have a bloodtest done and get the official confirmation.
Good luck with the new baby. I understand the testing thing, I kept taking tests even after the doctor confirmed it, just to show myself that I am still pregnant, because I waited for so long and when you are first pregnant there is really not much going on to make you feel different and you need that "proof' that you still are...

Hi! I am in Nursing school...there are only 3 POSITIVE tests for pregnancy;1. a fetal heartbeat detected by a Doppler @ about 10-12 weeks, 2. fetal movement felt by a professional, 3. seeing the fetus on an ultrasound. The others are only probable. Make sure you test your 1st urine of the day. But to get acurrate confirmation, go see the Dr.! Good luck!

When my husband I were trying, it took 18 months to get pregnant. When I was finally late enough to take a test, mine came out the same with the faint line. So I took another the next morning and it said the same. So I call my doctor and the nurse told me that faint or not I was pregnant. That the only time you have to worry is if it is negative. So if I went by my doctor, I would say you are pregnant. Which now I have a health 2 1/2 year old boy. I would just call your doctor and ask them. Hope this helps. K. N.

I think some tests just pick it up sooner than others. I got a (faint) positive on first response when others still said no, and first response was right. I'd go ahead and make an ob-gyn appointment and start taking vitamins! :)

This reminds me of my own situation. I stared at the faint line several times trying to decide. But, either there's a line or there isn't - whether it's faint or not. I was pregnant and you can confirm by calling your female doctor and getting the lab work done for a final confirmation to be sure. You should be able to do it the same day you call. This will give you a solid result.

Believe me it is positive. The only way to be 100% is to get your blood drawn. The only test after my first child were from the $ store. They are the best.

Go to your doctor and have them do a beta HCG blood test. They can test the levels in your blood to see if you are truly pregnant. You can get a false positive on those home test but with a blood test they can get an HCG level and let you know for sure. Stop wasting time and money not to mention your sanity. I used to work in OB and infertility and actually had to go through it myself to have our first child so I know how you feel. Our second child came along 11 months later by total surprise, but I remember taking about 4 of those test because I just couldn't believe it.

HPTs vary according to the amount of HCG they detect. I am not sure how much HCG EPT detects compared to 1st Reponse and Clearblue Easy, but it could be that they are more sensitive than EPT. If you want to be sure before calling your ob, wait a couple more days and test with the EPT again. I'd be willing to bet that it is positive. So, CONGRATULATIONS! :)

Aleisha, you really need to go to a doctor. Those tests can give the worng results and since you've had a positive and a negative reading, the only way of being positive is with a blood test or a doctors examination.

Hi Aleisha!
My guess is the EPT test that came back negative is probably because you took it in the middle of the day. They say you can test anytime of day but morning is always the best because your urine isn't as diluted from drinking throughout the day. I have always trusted First Repsonse and have never been fond of EPT. And like the other responses say some tests are more sensitive than others. If the test is picking up the HCG than most likey you are pregnant. If you want to be sure than call your doctor and have them do a blood test that will read the level of HCG in your blood. You can usually get the results within 24 hours (sometimes sooner, if you request it). . .anything that reads above a 5 means that you are pregnant (and as long as your numbers are doubling every 48 hours). Good luck!!

Congratulations! You're pregnant! When I was expecting child #2, I also had the faint line from the First Response test. I actually called First Response, and they told me that ANY line at all indicates pregnancy, since it measures the AFP in your urine. I don't know why the EPT test came back negative, though. Try again first thing in the morning, and see what happens!

Be honest and let him know about it. I was in the same situation about three months ago, actually. I took a few tests and always got the super-faint positive line, too. My friends and everyone were shooting me down, telling me that it wasn't accurate. It was SO frustrating, and confusing! I went to Planned Parenthood to find out for sure, and they confirmed the pregnancy. I am now 14 weeks along.
One thing to keep in mind: There are always false "negative" results on tests, but never false "positive"s. My HCG levels were just low, and hard for the home tests to detect. It really happens quite a lot.
When in doubt, go to the doctor. :) It will be cheaper in the long run than all the tests you buy, and it will give you better peace of mind. (Planned Parenthood is just $10.)
Good Luck to you, and best wishes! :)

For two of my pregnancies when I took a pregnancy test at the beginning of a week, it showed negative, but just three days later when I would take another test it would show a positive. I'd say your chances are pretty good that you are pregnant. The digital test may be more sensitive at an earlier stage than the others. Call your doctor though - that's always best.

When I was pregnant with my first daughter the pregnancy test came out the same way. The positive stripe was very light. I read a lot about pregnancy tests on the internet and many sources said that no matter how light the line is on the preganant side, you are pregnant. If you weren't you wouln't see the line at all. The earlier you take the test the lighter it is. I would have to say that two out of three tests saying you pregnant that you are. But you can never go wrong at the doctor.

Them tests are a pain in the butt, lol. I went through the similar thing when I was pregnant with my first. Believe it or not, but when you get them screwy results for the test, it's most likely that your pregnant. I don't want to get your hopes up that you are, so you should go get an exam, but in my experience I took 4. 2 said I was and then 2 came out messed up with the lines, which a lot of times is pregnant. Good Luck!! I am pregnant with my third and due on June 6. I will pray for you, GOD BLESS!!
