Always Cold

My 4year old grand daughter always complaining about her feet itch and now she complains they are cold. So I told her put on socks she did and then fell asleep 11 am on a Saturday after just getting up a few hours ago. Should I be concerned? She has a twin brother no complaints and a 2 year old sister no complaints. What do I do hear??

What can I do next?

So What Happened?™

Well she woke up for a few minutes and feel back asleep. I am babysitting and have informed her mother my daughter because she has a slight fever also. She is getting her some meds and vitamins with iron. Thanks for all your responses. They really helped

My suggestion would be if she hasn't had her iron level checked (our ped does this yearly) that she get it checked. When mine is low I get very lethargic and my feet and hands fall asleep often which might be described by a young child as an itchy feeling.

Does she have a fever? She might be coming down with something. Let her sleep, it's the best healer.
Treat her like you would if you knew she had a cold or flu. Liquids and chicken soup and such when she wakes up. If she's feeling okay have her do something active to get her blood circulating... and keep an eye on her afterwards. If she's tiring easily there could be something wrong that a doc might need to check out.

Hi, S.:

What does the mother say?

Just want to know.

Make sure she stays hydrated. If she sleeps for too long, it can be hard on her kidneys.

I agree that her hemoglobin should be checked to make sure she isn't anemic. Are you her primary caregiver or are you babysitting? If she lives with her mom, her mom would have to have her hemoglobin checked (it's a finger stick.)
