Due to several problems with my 13 year old she is unable to attend 8th grade.( too many problems to list) I thought about homeschooling but due to financial issues I had to return to full-time work so that is no longer an option. Does anybody no of other alternatives other than private ( which I can not afford)
Thanks

What can I do next?

Try this: www.homeschool.com and http://www.homeschool.com/supportgroups/

I don't know much about it, but I was recently a judge for a photography contest for a homeschooled group of kids with an instructor. So, check it out and I hope it works for you.

Have you checked into the Oddessy (possibly spelled wrong) Charter School? It's part of the public school system so it's free, but it's an online highschool where the students only go into class 4 hours per week and do their assignments at home on the computer. They don't need a parent facilitating the home schooling, because online instructors do that. As long as she can stay home and work independantly, it could be a good option. If you can't find the info, let me know, my husband did his student teaching for his master's there and I can get you contact info, I am sure they also have a website if you google it.

My son goes to Coral Academy of Science. It is a charter school. If it isn't in your area, there are several across the valley you might want to look into. A charter school is not part of the Clark County school district. It is smaller and you may have to pay a small fee. At Coral, it's $400 a year, I think, for books and supplies. The kids wear uniforms, too, so you have to buy shirts and pants.

He's only been there a month. So far, we're pretty happy with it. They still have some bugs to work out here and there. For one thing, the playground is just dirt, and the fence needs repair. Also, they recently had to have some portables removed, so the upper grades are a little crowded for now. The staff is working hard to resolve the problems, and I like the curriculum that they are teaching. My son is studying Spanish in 3rd grade!

Hi! Have you tried a charter school? I hear lots of great things about charter schools. They're like public school, but a little different. I know you don't have to be in a certain district to go to a charter school. You can search for one in your area at greatschools.net. I was going to enroll my daughter in Coral Academy of Science charter school in LV, NV 89123, but we ended up moving to The Lakes area in July. I hope things work out with your daughter.
