Check with the guidance counselor. A lot of teachers tutor on the side and they know some good ones. We've done tutoring to maintain honors courses and I pay a minimum of $50/hour.

Also, a college or good high school might be able to help. The counselors should have some good references for you.

Call the school and/or email his Algebra teacher for a recommendation for someone. You can also try www.care.com. It is a free website that tutors and childcare people use to find jobs and to advertise themselves.

If you get someone off the "street" make sure they have their creditials and a background check. www.care.com offers individuals the opportunity to pay a small fee to have their backgrounds ran for them through the website.

Good luck!

Ask the Algebra teacher or the head of the math department. Our Geometry teacher tutors Algebra then can let teh kids know what they need for her class teh net year.
ALso we use ALEKS math. I homeschool my youngest. It goes up through the higher level high school math. We are using preAlg right now It is $20 a month.
