Afternoon Outing Ideas with My Mom, Aunt and Cousin

Hi Everyone,

I am spending next Sunday afternoon with my mom, aunt and cousin. We will be celebrating my mom's birthday by going to a nice restaurant and having lunch. Besides having lunch, I am trying to figure out something to do for the rest of the afternoon. I know there's the theater, but we did that the last time the four of us hung out. If the weather is nice we could go to a nice garden. My mom doesn't want to go to a zoo. (My cousin and I will not be bringing our kids with... hubbies will care for them.)

What towns have nice outdoor shops to visit? We live in Elmhurst, Arlington Hts. and Lake Zurich areas. Do any towns have a nice fall festival going on next weekend? We've been to Long Grove a lot already. I think we would all enjoy browsing at cute shops with nice scenery. If you have a restaurant recommendation to go along with a town to shop in, I would love to hear about that too. I hope the weather is okay for that! I love being outdoors during a crisp, cool day, but without rain:)Isn't there cute shopping near Fox Lake? I don't know?? Any ideas would be appreciate!

So What Happened?™

Thanks for your ideas! Although we love shopping in Geneva, Illinois, we decided to go to Deer Park. We weren't sure if many stores would be open on a Sunday in Geneva. The day was beautiful and the food was absolutely delicious at a restaurant called Gianni's Cafe. (get calamari and chicken franchese if you go:) The stores at Deer Park are so nice. There are expensive stores mixed in with average priced stores.(I like that... I shop at the average price stores but I love browsing at the higher end stores to hope for some kind of deal!) While shopping there, I got incredible deals at the Children's Place! Thanks again!
