Affordable Hair Stylist in West San Jose/Campbell Area?

I had to leave my regular hairstylist. He was great and I really miss him, but I cannot afford him anymore (cut and color =almost $200 ) I have been to a couple of stylists since, but they just don't seem to understand my thick brown (but graying) curly hair. They didn't even have a diffuser attachment on their dryers and just blew my hair straight. Do any of you know a good affordable stylist that is good with color and my hair type? Thanks.

I know how you feel about stylists when it comes to your own hair. I have thick, straight black hair and I've always come across the problem of stylists not understanding how my hair works, so I started referring to pictures. On average it costs me $80 just for a cut and I won't even mention the cost for highlights. It was two years before I went in again to search for a stylist. I waited so long because of pregnancy and lost track of time afterwards. Anyway, after a lot of research I ended up going to Atelier in San Jose and was matched with Jessica Fuqua. The salon is located on Santana Row. I arrived early to look at and organize all the pictures I wanted her to see. And when going through the pictures, I also included adjectives to describe the look I wanted. To my amazement, I was extremely happy with my new hairdo and the job that she did. It only cost me $40 and I consider that a reasonable price. So that is my experience. You can see if you like Jessica or if you like the salon you more than likely can be matched up with another stylist. ###-###-####

If Los Gatos, near the High School is not too far, I highly recommend Carol Ekland, (also a mom) at Parlour 308. ###-###-####. You can call and ask her prices...her haircuts are reasonable and she always spends time with me. No rush jobs !

You might like Montage Hair Design in Campell, near the Pruneyard. Marti (I think she's the owner) is great and a cut is $55. I don't know what a color costs but I think she's pretty reasonable. Last time I went I used Veronica who is more junior and charged $43 for a cut. ###-###-####.

Hi S., The girl I go to, her name is Kelly Hammond, she is one of my daughter's best friends. She works at a shop called Sassy. It is located at 254 East Main St in Los Gatos. The shops phone number is ###-###-####. She is really good. She has naturally curly hair, so she knows what to do. My parents even switched to her after years of going to theirs, because their hairdress got way too expensive also. Tell her that Cassie referred you and you may get a pretty good deal. Good Luck

I go to a Robin Suggs at Trends Salon in downtown Los Gatos. She charges less than 200 for cut and color which i think is reasonable and she has always done a great job with my hair which is brown (with some grays), thick and curly. The first time I went to her I brought pictures from the past and what I liked and didn't like about the cuts. i have had a hard time with hair loss with nursing and my hair relaxing with nursing and just getting bigger in volume rather than the tight curls like I used to have. Robin has been great with listening to me and always helping to make my hair look great as I told her it was important to me to have my hair looking good while not feeling my best as I have been sleep deprived for a long time. Having my hair look good helps me to feel good and she has done a great job with the color and cut and making me always feel good about my hair. And she has a diffuser! And she has not taken offense when I have gone back in for a "fix" as my hair has been really hard to tame since the curl relaxed. I hope you find some one good to replace your last hairstylist. I know it's such personal relationship and it's important for your're hair to look good, especially when paying all that money to have it done. Good Luck!
