Affordable Gyno

I was wondering if anyone could tell me where i could go to get a free/affordable (like $100 or less) pap smear done. A year ago I had insurance and my pap test came back abnormal. Now, I don't have insurance and I need to get a follow-up test done to see why my test was abnormal. I was told by my OB/GYN that there is some medical facility downtown that might be able to do it, but i don't know what the name is. Any advice?

What can I do next?

So What Happened?™

I called all of the places everyone suggested and decided to go to planned parenthood. They offer pap smears as well as IUD placement, which i also wanted to have done. Thank you to everyone who gave me suggestions. You all were a big help!

i recommend the Church Health Center as well. They offer very affordable (or free) care to uninsured patients. The doctors there are great. They are physicians who own their own practice and volunteer there when they can.

Dr. Riad Homsi will do one for affordable if you tell his secretary Ms.Maria that you do not have insurance. His number is in the phone book, he is great.

Hi Z.,
When I lived in Arkansas, I lost my job due to company closing. Therefore, I lost my insurance. A friend told me to go to our local health clinic. They did my pap smear for free. I know, I was thinking health clinic? No way. but, it actually turned out ok..They do papsmears for free or sometimes little cost based on your income. I havent lived in TN to long, so I am not sure how things work around here yet, but thought I would mention it...

Beware - they also perform abortions so there may be a heckler across the street. I went to them when I was between insurances (12 years ago) and they were very kind.

Try medplex or christ community

Call the Church Health Center on Peabody. It's almost downtown. If they can't help, they will surely refer you to someone who can.

Try Planned Parenthood
