Advise on Teacher

well, i would say that what you don't want to happen to your child (needless labeling) has already happened to that teacher. and i'm sure that isn't an easy thing for her. and what you've heard are exactly what you said...rumors.you can never believe what others say because every point of view are skewed. i saw you try to forget that you've heard those things and concentrate on your son having a good year with this teacher. she may be the greatest teacher for him. you never know. give her a chance. talk to her and get a feel for her teaching personality. no matter what happens (what class he is in or who his classmates are) there are always going to be parents that say things that may or may not be true. of course this is the opinion of a preschool teacher. i hope your son has a great year.

i have read some of the responces and yes they will give them a class with all problem children my daughter is autistic and is in a class of all autistic children. they are supposed to have an asstistant in those classes as far as i know to assist the teacher and generally that i have seen they tend to be smaller. my daughter has gone to a couple different schools in 2 counties and it was the same in both. i'd say stick it out meet the teacher visit the class and see how it is run. alot of times teachers with problem students have some extra training. i know my daughters teacher last year had 12 yrs xp working with autistic children. at first i didn't like her i met her for a few seconds and her attitude toward me was a little condescending but once i got to know her and saw how she was with the kids i actually liked her and respected her alot more. and we eventually started working together for my daughter. good luck and keep us posted :)

As a teacher myself, I have to say I find it hard to believe a teacher would be given a class full of so called "problem kids." Most teachers work as a team with the other teachers in their grade level. In my experience, the children were divided up evenly so that each teacher would have a diverse group of kids. I have never heard of a teacher being given all the "bad" kids! I would take the first opportunity to meet your child's teacher, be it waiting for open house or going to meet her before school starts. You'll be able to get a good impression from her at that point. Then, as soon as your child begins, visit the classroom as often as possible to watch the teacher, and kids, in action. You may be pleasantly surprised with the way the classroom runs and how your child interacts with everyone. On the other hand, if you still have concerns after a few visits, try to talk to the teacher. If nothing is resolved, you may actually need to move your child. I have a question for you , I have two boys one is 3 yrs old and a 5 yr old also can , I ask you a question do your two boys get along really good cause my two boys one minute they get along and 30 to 45 mi n later they are fighting . Please let me know .

I say give the teacher a chance,there are so many good teachers and the fact she has behavior problem children may be beacause she is the understanding type who can handle the special kids who need the extra help.give her a chance ask questions feel her out and then go from there.my kids have had both good teachers and bad teachers.I would'nt let to much time pass if you want him changed to another teacher but atleast give this one a chance.good luck

Always give the teacher a chance, I believe. I almost switched my daughter fro a teacher given another's opinion, and I am so glad we didn't--she's still my daughter's best-ever teacher to date.
However, I will caution you--my child was with several behavior-problem kkids last year, and i didn't discover until too late just how bad an environment it was for my daughter, who is very easily distracted. When I volunteered in the class, I could see that the teacher's time was largely spent on dealing with the "problem" kids, and someone was always doing *something* wrong--the teacher herself couldn't be focused,and in my opinion did not manage the class well.
So, my advise would be to stick it out, but volunteer as soon as you can to see first-hand what the classroom is like, how it suits your child, and what the other kids are like. I can't imagine a teacher being given ONLY problem kids, so I don't think it means your child has been labeled. But the classroom may or may not be the best for your child given how he acts when in that environment.
