Advice on the Perfect Mattress
We are needing a new mattress for our bed in our master bedroom. It has become overwhelming to decide on the type of mattress since there are a lot of different options out there. Any positive experiences anyone has had with their mattresses would be greatly appreciated. Also, it would be great to have some idea of a good place to purchase a new mattress in the Dallas area.

I like Nyydia's advice. I have heard people say they love the sleep number bed but I'd rather stick with tradition...

mattress firm on knox at 75. go in the evening...you're more likely to get a better deal...especially if you go at the end of the month since the sales guys just want to reach their quota. it's not a good idea to shop around at different mattress stores because the names/brands/specs on the mattresses differ at each store. mattress firm is good because it's located next to 2 or 3 other stores and they are the most competetive. ask for michael...he's a great, not overbearing sales guy. also, try to get the mattress protector cover thrown in for free. it never hurts to ask!

We have a sleep number and love it!! We bought it in 2001 and have had no problems. They are expensive, but have a 20 year guarantee. There are sleep number stores in most shopping malls. At least go and check it out in the store. Lay on one and see what you think. They will help you determine your sleep number.
Good Luck!

Do NOT get the tempurpedic. I wanted one for years and years, I finally splurged and got one last summer. Not a good idea. I've regretted ever since, and its still got 2 years of payments so I'm stuck with it for awhile. I do mystery shopping and had to go try out the sleep number bed, and totally wish I would have had the experience first. I would have bought that one instead.

Hi J.,
Sleep number bed. The way to go!! I love it as I feel like I am sleeping in the bed instead of on the bed. Best mattress ever. Worth the money.

I heard a good tip recently. Do NOT buy a pillow top, because pillow top means "no flip". You are able to get more use out of it when you can use both sides.
The next time I buy... I'm going for the sleep number bed. They are on QVC once in a many moon, but seem to be the best price around. Go try one out... they really are the most comfortable bed I've ever tried out. Let one of the sales reps show you all about them. If you just walk in and lay on one, you aren't on the number that will feel good to you. They are not high pressure sales people either. I will have one... some day. :(

We got Spring Air and Sealy from Weir's and love them.

Are you a member of Sam's Club? Believe it or not, they actually have some decent mattresses. In fact, we got a Sealy brand version of the tempurpedic style mattress (all foam, not just a topper), and it's the greatest thing ever! Solved my back issues almost immediately.
