My name is C. I have recently moved here from England.
I am considering opening an English themed teahouse serving e.g fresh cream cakes scones
sandwiches in a homely atmosphere maybe with books also available.I also bake birthday and wedding cakes.
I would appreciate some feedback as to whether this is something that would appeal to the average American so if you can spare a few minutes I would appreciate your comments.
Thankyou

C.,
I think it is a great idea...I studied abroad in England and tea time was a favorite of mine! There is a little restaurant in Pine Mountain, GA that offers lunch and full English tea in the afternoons by appointment. It is called the Rose Cottage Cafe. Maybe speaking with the owner would give you a good idea as to how the business is going, etc.

I think this is a great idea. We had something like that years ago, my mom and I went and we had little sandwiches, tea and fun pastries. Also, they had coats and gloves and wigs, my mom and I had a blast dressing up for tea!! I have a daughter that I would love to do something like this with one day. I think that little girls would have so much fun at a birthday party here. Please keep me posted, if you open this I would love to come!! Good Luck!

I would love, love that! I heard there is one in Warm Springs, you might want to check it out. My husband and I just recently stayed at a bed and breakfast in Montgomery, AL and another couple went to a tea room and said it was magnificent. You might want to check it out too! Good luck and let us know if you open up. Take care.

Hi C.,

I personally would enjoy a place like that. (One of my dearest friend's is from London and I LOVE her pastries!!!)I know it would be hard in a small community but there may be a niche in Columbus. Growing up in Columbus I do know that Columbus has an all or nothing mentality. Restaurants, nightclubs, etc seem to last for a season and then, when something else opens up, the crowds shift. Make sure you investigate thoroughly and keep your overhead low.

If you do decide to open it, PLEASE let me know. I'll be there with bells on!

Regards,

M.
