Ladies,
I need help! :) I have dark blonde hair and wanted a change... I wanted something more on a honey blonde color. Since I an breastfeeding, I cannot use any hair coloring products containing peroxide or ammonia. A friend of mine suggested I tried henna, since it is natural. Well, I did it a few days ago and I don't like the color my hair are now (more reddish). Fortunately, the color will stay on only for about a month. My question is: when I won't have any more henna in my hair, what products or ingredients can I use (and are safe while breastfeeding) to highlight my hair?

Thanks for your help!
H.

I just wanted to say that I have heard using bleach to highlight your hair after using henna on your hair can melt it. I would ask about it before having it done.

My doctor said highlighting your hair is fine. It is going darker that is harmful. So I highlighted my while I was pregnant with no problems.

Hello! I have been a hairstylist since '92, even though I stay at home now. I did several clients with highlights while they were breastfeeding or pregnant without any problems at all. Some of their doctors recommended that they keep the color off the scalp during these times to prevent it from getting through your skin in to your system. (which highlights do, since the color doesn't touch the scalp) You should be fine using anything off the scalp at this point. You can also use semi-permanent colors, as long as they are professional ones from a salon, because these do not have any ammonia or peroxide in them. However, they cannot lighten hair, only darken or tone it. I hope this helps! Feel free to respond to me with anymore questions.
