Advice on Good, Supportive Nursing Bra

I was wondering if anyone has any recommendations on a good nursing bra? I'm particularly interested in a bra that will provide some good support and give me a little lift. I don't know if this is too much to ask of a nursing bra. I bought a couple at Kohls which I don't particularly like and I have one from Expressiva.com. The bras in the maternity store don't seem to be very good and a lot had underwires which I thought werne't recommended for nursing moms. Thanks in advance for your suggestions.

What can I do next?

I got my bras from Breakoutbras.com. They had good supportive, sports bras, which I liked a lot. Unfortunately there wasn't any cleavage shown, but they worked for the time I needed them. Hope this helps.

I second the Gillian and O'Malley bra at Target that has a soft cup and no underwires! They are about $15-$20 if I remember correctly.

I nursed five of my children using a regular front closure bra. It is no more difficult open or shut than a nursing bra "flap", plus you can get the perfect fit. Look for a department store to have a sale, than go get a fitting. Buying a fitted, quality bra was one of the best investments I ever made. Just make sure you have a material that can "breath". For extra support use a sports bra that closes in the front. Usually I never needed to unhook a bra, I just lifted it over the breast. If you have the right fit and material, it is not as uncomfortable as you may think.

I'm not by any means well endowed, so I didn't have a problem there, but a good nursing bra was important to me. When I was nursing the only time I was braless was in the shower. I was so uncomfortable without it. I had a nursing tank from Target that I absolutely loved, but could only afford one. It was great for winter, because it kept my tummy warm when I felt half naked! It was also great for sleeping and nursing in bed. I also had bras from target and motherhood maternity. I know they sell nursing bras with an underwire, but I've also heard that you shouldn't use one because it can cause plugged milk ducts and mastitus. I just bought one new bra at a time until I found one that I really liked, then went back and bought a couple more just like it. It can get expensive, but having the wrong bra can cause all kinds of problems and pain. Some of the maternity shops have sales people who are trained to help you find the right bra. Ask in the shop for someone who has some experience with that. I looked all over and did finally find someone, the people at Victoria's Secret acted like I had cooties, and the people at JC Penney's recommended that I check out the maternity shop to be well fitted. In the end that's what I did and I did find a good bra, so it must have worked! Good luck.

i got my nursing bras in the maternity section at walmart and they have a soft cup bra that works really well. hope this helps

I cannot believe it took me so long to find a comfortable, yet supportive nursing bra, but here it is:

It is from Target, and is very inexpensive!
Good luck:)

p.s. I need a D cup, and even without underwire, it is very supportive.

You might try Isabella's bra shop in Dayton. http://www.superpages.com/bp/Dayton-OH/A-Big-Girl-BraShop... Good luck!

I LOVE my nursing bra top from Glamourmom.com My favorite is the nursing bra long top (not the nursing bra tank). It is a tank top that you wear under your shirt. I own 3 and constantly rotate. They are very supportive and comfy too!

Good luck!

It's hard to find a good nursing bra that doesn't cost an arm and a leg! My favorite was from Target - their Gilligan & O'Malley brand. They didn't have seams across the front and were very comfortable. I thought they were pretty supportive. I'd also heard that underwires weren't good for nursing. Also, I thought it would be awkward for feeding since you can't just push the underwire out of the way. Good luck!
