Advice on Good Maternity Jeans

Please give me your opinion on good maternity jeans. I am looking for comfortable ones that don't fall down all the time and are roomier/relaxed as opposed to skinny jeans. This is definitely my last pregnancy, so I am not wanting to spend a fortune. Thanks in advance!

So What Happened?

Thanks to everyone for your responses and opinions. I actually went to a Kid to Kid in the area and was able to use your recommendations (and warnings) to find several that were inexpensive ($3) and fit well! They were cheap enough that I can buy another pair down the road at the end of pregnancy when everything else gets too tight and not feel guilty at the last minute expense.

I cannot do skinny leg jeans. My calves are too big. I opted for elastic waist jean style pants that i found in the older ladies section in the store. I also found levi's at a resale shop that were a couple sizes different than my usual. Plus, teh elastic and size larger were great for after and i didn't have to worry about the big fabric belly showing.

Looks like you got good advice and had some good shopping - I wanted to second (third?) the advice to get a belly band. There are at least a couple of different brands. I think they all pretty much cost about $25. Mine was worth it's weight in gold. Helped the pants stay up when I wasn't that big yet, wore my regular pants unzipped with it, and then wore it every single day to keep my pants up when my belly was huge. (Did have a funny 6th-grade student comment the first day I wore maternity jeans - with out the band - "Ms. LeCuyer, you're saggin'!")

Gap's Long and lean maternity jeans worked through both of my pregnancies. I'm 5 ft 7 in about 140-145 when I'm not pregnant. Many of my girlfrieds love them too.

My jeans were all from old Navy.
2 pairs wanted to fall off me, I used a Bella band which worked perfect to hold them up.
The other 2 I had no issue with.
Unfortunately, I'm still wearing them. ;o)

For most of my pregnancy (except for the last 6-8 weeks) I used the belly band. I don't remember the exact name of it, but I got them at Motherhood Maternity. You can continue wearing your regular pants and put it on to hold your unbuttoned pants on. It was very comfortable and looks like I was wearing a cami under my shirt.

Motherhood jeans are relaxed and not very expensive. They have sales pretty often and a nice website. I know they have stores in various malls and Sears also carries them. I liked them better than any others. Elizabeth

The Motherhood Maternity jean with the secret fit belly! They are the best and don't break the bank. I love mine and wish I could still wear them because they fit perfect in all spots.

I found good maternity jeans at Motherhood and they are reasonably priced -- it was my last pregnancy so I felt the same way about spending as you do. And I picked up another good pair of "gently worn" at Kid to Kid.

Okay, my last pregnancy and I agree totally. I am 8 weeks out and REFUSE to pay money for stuff that i don't want in the first place and won't wear again!! I have found some GREAT DEALS at Ross in their maternity section...under $15.00.
Sometimes they have some really decent brands. I did get a pair of capri denim ones last go round at JCPenny online, they have been the best investment. I had a friend give me some Japanese Weekend ones that were comfy and didn't fall down, but they were free to me. Bottom line, I have yet to see really cute maternity clothes...so I always went with the bargain. I have some Mimi ones my hubby bought me last time and those fall down all the time.
cutest ones i have, but fall down!
good luck!

My favorite maternity jeans are from Motherhood Maternity. They have the Secret Fit panel which is really comfortable to me. I got a few pairs for less than $40 each.
I have jeans from Old Navy which are horrible. They're supposedly full panel, but the panel is really low, cuts into my stomach and it ripped the second time I wore them.
Hope this helps!

Try a Bella Band, they sell them on JC Penny's website - might carry them in a bigger store. Or you can order them directly from Bella Band. You can wear your regular jeans undone. Otherwise Old Navy or Motherhood both have great jeans/pants.

I have bought maternity jeans from Motherhood and Old Navy but you can find great deals on softly worn clothes. If you have a Once Upon A Child or a Kid to Kid, check those out. You could probably google some consignment stores near you.

DEFINITELY get the jeans from Motherhood Maternity with the Secret Fit panel. I bought a pair of jeans and a pair of jean shorts from them and they were the absolute best thing I've ever spent my money on (and shhh --- I am still wearing the jeans and my daughter is 3 months old LOL).

I bought maternity jeans from Target found them to be useless; I kept having to pull them up over my belly and that got annoying very fast.

Good luck to you!

I dont know about the fit of the jeans because I only had one pair of maternity jeans but if you dont mind second-hand stores you might try a place like Kid-to-Kid. There is one in Arlington and they had a LOT of maternity clothes for cheap.

try Walmart.com Purchase them online. Shipping is free if they are picked up at your nearest store. They have the Levi's brand maternity jeans for under $12.00 and a whole bunch other stuff. This is where I bought all my maternity clothes and it was really inexpensive bcuz this was my last pregnancy as well. Good luck.

I love Elly B jeans they are awesome. There used to be a maternity shop in Southlake that sold them, but I think they closed. You could check online at duematernity.com. I am not having anymore children and gave all my maternity clothes away, but I couldn't part with my Elly B jeans :).

You can also try ebay. You must know what size you are and the brand then search on ebay for excellent used or mint condition. If you prefer brand new then the options given before are great. Good Luck!

Secret Fit jeans from Motherhood Maternity (I got mine at Town East Mall in Mesquite). The ones that are around $40-45 are the best, and worth every penny. I only bought those one pair of jeans and wore them constantly. They belly part was perfect and seamless under clothes, and very comfortable, but the jean part was stretchy also. Loooooveed them.

I guess it depends on your body type and your taste in jeans. I found a great pair of Lee jeans at Sears that fit me really well and looked like regular jeans with a zip front closure and elastic in the back. They fit underneath the belly instead of those bands that fit over the belly. I don't like things on my stomach in general so these really worked for me. They also had extra room in the thighs for my expanding tree trunks ;-) I wore them all the time and right up to the end of my pregnancy.

The "Secret Fit" from Motherhood Maternity. They also have other jeans at the store, but this kind is the best. They kinda look funny because the stretchy top part covers your whole belly, but with your top on, you can't see it. I also bought some from Old Navy and Gap, but they always slid down or felt like they would.

The secret belly comes in a flare/bootcut style and slimmer ones I think. I got the bootcut and got tons of compliments on them, plus they were only like $20.00. I almost wish they mad regular jeans like this, because they were soooo comfy and always felt secure, even when bending over. Hope this helps!

Old Navy has affordable jeans and they lots of stuff online. Also, try the jeans that have the adjustable elastic (with buttons) on the sides. This type goes under your belly, though, so if you're not comfortable with that, you might not like them. A bella band could also help. My favorite jeans that I had were from the Gap, and you can also find things on sale online (and a larger selection) or try their store at the Galleria. I found some good deals there when I was pregnant.
